Why Bet on the FSU Seminoles?
It didn’t look easy, but the Florida State Seminoles finally saw their six-game losing streak come to an end thanks to a tense 81-80 win over the Clemson Tigers on Tuesday. With five games left and five games behind Duke for the ACC lead, the Seminoles are still within striking distance at salvaging their campaign if they can keep things going the rest of the way.
Senior guard RayQuan Evans almost single-handedly led his team to the clutch win over Clemson. Evans led his team with 28 points, including the go-ahead points from the free-throw line to end FSU’s recent misery. Florida State’s tenacity did the team well during its last meeting against Duke, in January, which was also a one-point thriller that went into overtime, 79-78.
Sadly, the Seminoles are in the worst possible time dealing with injuries to multiple key players. Caleb Mills, Naheem McLeod, Anthony Polite, and Malik Osborne were all huge contributors in last month’s win over the Blue Devils, but each of them are on the shelf nursing their respective injuries. Can the underhanded ‘Noles somehow complete their season sweep of Duke considering that they barely escaped with a victory over the Tigers with a mere 4-11 record in conference play?
Why Bet on the Duke Blue Devils?
The No. 9 Duke Blue Devils also were embroiled in a tight contest Tuesday, as they needed a last-second put-back dunk to beat the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, 76-74. That win extends Duke’s win streak to three games and are now 8-1 since suffering the aforementioned defeat to Florida State last month.
Four Duke starters finished in double-digit scoring, with standout center Mark Williams leading the way with his 16 points and 10 rebounds. Williams was also the one who threw down the go-ahead dunk off of star guard Paolo Banchero’s game-winning shot attempt, as the Blue Devils kept pace with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish for the best record in the ACC standings at 12-3.
Similar to the Noles as well is that Duke is monitoring a serious health concern from their staff. Legendary head coach Mike Krzyzewski had to exit the contest against Wake Forest due to him feeling ill after halftime. Regardless of Coach K’s absence, though, the boys from Durham still got the job done against the Deacons and will now be even more motivated to avenge their loss to the Seminoles in Saturday’s rematch.
FSU vs. Duke Betting Trends
- The Seminoles are 1-6 over the last five games in general but do have a 5-2 record against the spread during this stretch.
- The Noles are 3-8 in the last 11 road games (2-9 ATS).
- The totals went under in four of Florida State’s last six road trips.
- The Blue Devils are 14-2 at home this season (7-6-3 ATS).
- The Devils are 9-2 against FSU since 2013, but just 4-7 against the spread.
- The totals went over in five of Duke’s last seven home games.
FSU vs. Duke Expert Betting Prediction
There’s no denying that Florida State’s injury woes coupled with a driven and surging Blue Devils squad is a recipe for disaster for the Noles. Then again, They’ve covered the spread more often than not of late and during their most recent encounters against Duke, meaning that backing the Seminoles to cover, at the very least, is not that bad a play as it seems on paper.
