Gervonta Davis vs. Rolando Romero Fight Information

Boxing Odds: Gervonta Davis (-909) / Rolando Romero (+550)

Why Bet on Gervonta Davis?

Baltimore native Gervonta Davis is well on his way to becoming the next household name in boxing. The 27-year-old southpaw is undefeated in 26 professional fights, with four of them being knockouts, as he’s widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers around.

Like his nickname would imply, “Tank” is a frightening force behind his massive punches, which earned him the distinction of holding world titles across three different weight classes since 2019. Davis also has the advantage in experience alone against his next opponent in Rolando Romero, who’s had a little over half the body of work in the ring as Davis to date.

One concern for Davis, though, is that he needed the full 12 rounds in his most recent title defense against Isaac Cruz. Even though Davis won that bout unanimously, it was also his first win via the judge’s scorecard since October 2014 during his ninth-career victory whilst he was still climbing up the ranks.

Why Bet on Rolando Romero?

Had it not been for an untimely run-in with the law, Rolando Romero would’ve gotten his title shot back in December. However, allegations of sexual misconduct from his girlfriend derailed his path towards the championship and is now just getting his shot at the WBA lightweight title after no charges were filed, and he’s back in focus.

Outside preparing for his title bout against Davis, Romero took plenty of jabs at the reigning champ with some fighting words and trash-talking. The 26-year-old Vegas native certainly has the bite to back up his bark, though, as he’s unbeaten in his 14-career fights, with all but two of those victories being knockouts to somewhat further mimic Davis’ own glowing track record.

Romero also happens to share the same backers as Davis, as the two are both managed by Mayweather Promotions. Rumor has it that Mayweathre Promotions is cheering for Romero to pull off the upset, since Davis is at the end of his contract with the promotion. That being said, having dedicated more resources to Romero’s success over Davis with both technically being in the same camp might just be enough for the “Rolly” to overthrow the reigning champion off his lightweight throne.

Gervonta Davis vs. Rolando Romero Expert Betting Prediction

As the current odds would have it, Davis is a heavy favorite given his wealth of experience in comparison to the challenger. Then again, Romero’s record is nearly identical to Davis’ except in the total fight count, and let’s not forget that both men are still undefeated and not just the defending champ. In turn, this massive bout could still go either way, even though Davis clearly has the advantage statistically and physically.
