Why Bet on the Memphis Grizzlies?
After a solid three-game win streak, the Memphis Grizzlies suddenly met their match after losing in overtime to the 30-win Philadelphia 76ers on Monday, 122-119. The Grizzlies lost some ground in the race for the top seed in the Western Conference, as they’re now seven games behind the Phoenix Suns for the summit of the conference.
Despite the loss, Memphis’ top stars are still playing at a high level. The stellar backcourt tandem of Ja Morant and Desmond Bane combined for 71 points, 12 rebounds, and six assists, with Bane draining five of his nine three-point attempts. Big man Jaren Jackson Jr., who’s second in the NBA averaging 2.3 blocks per game, finished with 18 points, seven boards, and two blocked shots.
It’s only the second time this season that the Grizzlies lost a contest despite scoring 115 or more points. Although they’re the fourth-highest scoring team in the league (112.1 PPG), they should still be wary of a New York team that’s tied for fifth-best in the NBA on defense, allowing just an average of 104.6 points per game.
Why Bet on the New York Knicks?
The New York Knicks had the exact opposite fate as the Grizzlies on Monday, as their 116-96 blowout win at home over the Sacramento Kings snapped their own three-game losing streak. Alas; the Knicks are still three games under .500 and are still on the outside of the playoff bubble looking in as the 11th-ranked team in the East to date.
New York shot 50 percent from the floor against the Kings, with Alec Burks coming off the bench to score a team-high 21 points. Five other Knicks players scored in double-digits including Evan Fournier, who finished with 18 points and went 4-of-7 from beyond the arc. The team also had a huge edge on the glass after out-rebounding Sacramento, 57-49.
The battle of the boards will be key against the Grizzlies, who are the NBA’s top rebounding unit averaging 48.3 rebounds per game. Defensive-minded head coach Tom Thibodeau needs a better game plan for his team on offense as well, as the Knicks are averaging just 104.1 points per game this season (27th in the league).
Grizzlies vs. Knicks Betting Trends
- The Grizzlies are 2-3 in the last five road games (SU/ATS).
- The Grizzlies are 5-1 in the last six contests as road favorites (SU/ATS).
- The totals went over in five of Memphis’ last seven games away from Music City.
- The Knicks are 2-3 themselves over the last five home games (SU/ATS).
- The Knicks are 4-2 in the last six games against Western Conference teams (5-1 ATS).
- The totals went under in four of New York’s last seven homestands.
Grizzlies vs. Knicks Expert Betting Prediction
It’s rather apparent that the Grizzlies are favored to win this upcoming matchup in terms of overall talent and chemistry. However, the Knicks did look impressive during their recent 20-point victory and have home court advantage in their favor yet again. In turn, there’s a high possibility that the Knicks can, at the very least, cover the spread as home dogs; if not outright hand the Grizz another loss on the East Coast for a rather shocking upset.
