July’s Mega Fight Weekend

By Jeff Stinger

The summer sports season continues to pack some real heat, as headed our way at the tail-end of the month is a string of amazing combat sports events. There are two blockbuster boxing cards on tap live from Japan, as well as a pair of knockout MMA events from the heartland of the United States to round out the weekend and keep the bets flowing well into the final week of July.

Nitrobetting isn’t holding back any punches when it comes to previews for the biggest boxing and mixed martial arts events on the calendar. This time, let’s quickly run down the four massive fight cards happening in the final week of July, along with odds for the main events of those respective cards.

Get Ready to Place Some Stakes on July’s Mega Fight Weekend

Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue

As a tantalizing taste of things to come this week in the world of combat sports, Stephen Fulton will defend his WBC and WBO super-bantamweight titles against former three-division champion Naoya Inoue in a mid-week clash live from Tokyo. Apart from the title shot at stake, both Fulton and Inoue will also put their respective undefeated records on the line in what should be an instant classic that could just as well be overshadowed by the rest of the week’s fight festivities.

Errol Spence Jr. vs. Terence Crawford

In arguably the more highly-anticipated boxing bout of the week, another pair of undefeated boxers will go toe-to-toe in Sin City for a must-watch welterweight title unification match. Reigning WBA, WBC, and IBF welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. has a shot to become the undisputed champ of his weight class, but so too does battle-hardened veteran Terence Crawford, who currently holds the WBO welterweight belt that Spence is gunning after.

UFC 291: Poirier vs. Gaethje 2

Another Saturday means another stacked UFC fight card is underway, and it doesn’t get any bigger than a premier event in UFC 291. While the “BMF” title at stake is mainly for bragging rights, the main event between former lightweight champions Dustin Poirier and Justin Gaethje is still bound to be a slobber-knocker for the ages. The co-main event of the evening is just as pivotal and intriguing, as former middleweight champion Alex Pereira will be making his light heavyweight debut against a former champ of the division in Jan Blachowicz.

Bellator MMA x Rizin 2

Rounding out July’s massive fight-sports week is the return of the collaboration between UFC’s two main competitors Bellator MMA and Rizin Fighting Federation for another massive event held in the latter promotion’s home country. Former featherweight champ A.J. McKee looks to keep winning in his recent transition to lightweight. However, Patricky Pitbull is also out for blood after losing his lightweight belt in November. This huge main event also happens to be a quarterfinal showdown in the ongoing Bellator Lightweight World Grand Prix and is another can’t-miss affair for die-hard MMA fans.
