Kings vs. Warriors 2023 NBA Playoffs Odds and Game 3 Preview – April 20th

By Jeff Stinger

No one expected the Kings to take the early series lead against the defending champions. Sacramento had something to prove after 17 years of missing out on the playoffs. They secured the first two home games and now hit the road with overflowing confidence. However, we don’t expect this one to be as straightforward as the last two games for Sacramento. Playing at Chase Center can be intimidating given the Dubs’ 33-9 regular-season home record. That said, expect things to get closer in Game 3 of this Kings vs. Warriors series.

Nitrobetting is ready to dish out key assists and lob passes with betting tips and news coverage throughout the 2023 NBA Playoffs. This time, let’s break down the upcoming playoff showdown between the Sacramento Kings and the Golden State Warriors.

Why Bet on the Sacramento Kings?

The Kings are about to face their biggest playoff challenge so far. Taking on the Dubs in their home territory is no joke. While the Kings completed a pair of wins against the four-time champions, the Warriors hold the third-best regular-season road record. We expect a different atmosphere leading up to Game 3.

Domantas Sabonis showed up for his team in Game 2. The former Pacers forward logged 24 points on eight of 12 shooting and led his team to nine boards. De’Aaron Fox provided additional ball movement and dished nine assists in 36 minutes on the floor. Sacramento protected an eight-point lead by the end of the tussle after shooting 45.7% from the field and 21 of 29 from the line. Despite shooting poorly from deep at 23.7%, the Kings dominated the paint and scored 54 of their 114 points in the area.

Sacramento finished as the league’s best-scoring team. They lead the league in points per game with 120.7 on a second-ranked 49.3% shooting. Conversely, they limit competitors to 118.0 points per game on one of the worst shooting defenses at 49.2% opponent shooting. Mike Brown’s team might not have the best defense out there, but they have enough offensive sting to compensate for the deficit.

Why Bet on the Golden State Warriors?

The Dubs are in dire need of a win if they want to keep their championship hopes above water. After the first two games, it seems Steve Kerr and the rest of his crew need to step up big time. The last time they shared the floor with the Kings, the Warriors did slightly better from the field. Golden State was 47.6% from the field and trashed their opponents from deep with 13 of 40 three-pointers versus the Kings’ nine of 38. Both were neck-and-neck in rebounds. The competitors recorded 41 total boards each, with the Kings doing slightly better on the offensive rebounding end.

Turnovers lost the game for the Warriors. They had eight more turnovers than the Kings that night. Sacramento dominated the paint as well. Golden State had 14 points less in the paint and five fewer fast break points.

Stephen Curry delivered 28 points on nine of 21 from the field in their losing efforts. He also led the team with six assists in 41 minutes on the floor. Kevon Looney logged seven rebounds. He struggled to collect boards that night and only had six defensive and one offensive rebound.

Kings vs. Warriors Betting Trends

  • The Kings are 3-2 in the last five road games (4-1 ATS).
  • Sacramento is 0-5 in its last five games at Chase Center (4-1 ATS).
  • The totals went over in two of the Kings’ last three road games against the Warriors.
  • The Warriors are 4-1 in the last five postseason games at home (4-1 ATS).
  • Golden State is 2-3 in their last five meetings with the Kings (1-4 ATS).
  • The totals went over on three of the Dubs’ last five playoff games at Chase Center.

Kings vs. Warriors Game 3 Expert Betting Predictions

The Golden State Warriors are the more experienced team without a doubt. They’ve had their backs against the wall a few too many times, and we expect better defensive efforts from the four-time champs in familiar territory. Many look forward to the Warriors taking control of this game. However, the Kings did outplay the Dubs back-to-back. Their youth, speed, and athleticism are a handful to contain. Steve Kerr will also lose Draymond in his rotation following a one-game ban. He is the Warriors’ lifeblood and best defensive player. His absence could narrow down the odds here. Sacramento can threaten to cover the spread and even put the hosts in a sticky situation across four quarters.
