Why is Liverpool a safe bet in Game 2?

This is the 13th appearance by the Red in a Champions League and its eighth season to reach the quarterfinals. They have reached the finals and won before, a total of six so far, their last being the 2018-19 Champions League. They weren’t able to defend it, after losing to Atletico Madrid in the Round of 16 the following year.

Their recent performance against Spanish clubs hasn’t gone their way. They have only won two of the last 13 games against a Spanish team, which includes losses during the 2016 Europa League finals and the 2018 Champions League final against Real Madrid. In fact, in the past 13 knockout ties in a European competition, the Reds have only progressed twice when losing by two or more goals.

Mohamed Salah is the player to watch for Liverpool. He’s scored in in the last four appearance in the tournament and can bring a tough spot for Madrid’s defense, if he’s able to pass them. Keep an eye out on him.

Why is Real Madrid a safe bet in Game 2?

The 13 time champions are currently playing their 51st European Cup campaign, more than any other team in the competition. And it’s their 25th campaign in the Champions League, a record they share with rivals Barcelona. They’ve also qualified to the knockout round every single time.

This is also their 17th appearance in the quarterfinals, this being the first time to be lone representatives of Spain in the last eight. Their performance against English clubs is good, having won eight during knockout ties. They have lost to English teams before during the tournament, but they’ve been able to succeed most of the time.

One player to watch out for is Vinícius Júnior, who scored twice for the Merengues in the first leg against Liverpool and currently stands with 17 goals in his favor so far in the competition.

Liverpool vs. Real Madrid Betting Prediction

This is quite the mountain to climb for the Reds. It’s been a while since Liverpool won at home in Anfield. Since December 2020 to be exact. And their recent win against Aston Villa may bring the confidence that they need for this match.

For Real Madrid, they’ve been able to be successful this season and haven’t gone much out of form. They do have a couple of setbacks with some key injuries, though they have a solid squad to replace them for the time being. I think the Merengues will be moving on to the semifinals, though tides can shift fast.
