Had it not been for a soul-crushing overtime loss in the very last game of the regular season, the Los Angeles Chargers would’ve been in the playoffs. Now back with a huge chip on their shoulder, the Chargers are ready to send their electric young stars back onto the field. What’s quite shocking as well is that the Bolts are packed with sleeper MVP candidates on the offensive side of the ball.

A Surge in Expectations
Widely considered as a top-five quarterback in the NFL, it wouldn’t be right to call Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert a mere sleeper candidate for the 2022 NFL MVP award. In fact, Herbert is currently a +1,100 favorite to win the award after taking another huge leap in his sophomore 2021 by throwing for over 5,000 yards and 38 passing touchdowns.
The real dark horse picks lie in Los Angeles’ receiving corps, with the duo of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams both sharing the same +20,000 odds to win the coveted individual accolade. Both wideouts had 1,100-yard receiving campaigns last season and combined for 15 receiving TDs, with the latter in Allen having breached the 1,100-yard mark four times in his career already.
As if that wasn’t enough, the Bolts have an arguably better sleeper in dynamic running back Austin Ekeler, who’s currently a sneaky +15,000 candidate to win the MVP in his own right. Ekeler’s two-way skills out of the backfield were in full display last season, as he finished with over 1,500 all-purpose yards and 20 offensive touchdowns, with 12 of those TDs coming on the ground for a new career high. Needless to say, the Chargers are spoiled for choices in terms of sleeper MVP candidates packing huge value odds-wise.
Updated Chargers’ Super Bowl 57 Odds
As of this writing, the Chargers are +1,600 sleepers to win Super Bowl LVII. They are currently tied with the San Francisco 49ers and fellow division rivals the Denver Broncos for the fifth-best odds in the league. The Bolts are also +240 favorites to win a heated AFC West divisional race against the Kansas City Chiefs (+160) and the aforementioned Broncos (+250).
