Why Bet on the Dallas Mavericks?
For the past two instances, the Dallas Mavericks’ losses have both been lopsided affairs with the Mavericks scoring no more than 90 points apiece. Game 1’s 112-87 beatdown at the hands of the Golden State Warriors is a testament to their strategy of living and dying by the sword of Luka Doncic.
Doncic led all Mavs players on Wednesday but scored just 20 points on 3-of-10 shooting from the three-point line. Luka’s poor shooting night was an epidemic for the team, as fellow sharpshooter Jalen Brunson missed all five of his shots from three as well as Dallas as a whole shot just 36 percent from the field and 22.9 percent from beyond the arc.
On the bright side, the Mavs were feisty enough on defense to force 15 turnovers that led to 18 easy points. They also know what it takes to beat Golden State, especially with four of their most recent wins over the Warriors having been won by an average of 15.5 points per game.
Why Bet on the Golden State Warriors?
As many had expected, the Golden State Warriors took Game 1 at home as the consensus favorites to win the series. The Warriors showed how deep their roster is this postseason by having seven players score in double digits Wednesday.
Stephen Curry led the way for the Warriors with his 21 points and 12 rebounds, followed by 19-point performances from Andrew Wiggins and Jordan Poole. Golden State shot 56.1 percent from the field, had 12 more rebounds than the Mavs, and was also hard to stop in transition with 18 fast-break points to just seven from Dallas.
There’s still room for improvement for the Warriors, though. They committed 24 fouls in Game 1 which, thankfully, did not factor into the win as much. Nevertheless, the Dubs could coast to their eighth consecutive home playoff win and their 200th postseason win in franchise history this Wednesday if they clean up on the smaller issues defensively.
Mavericks vs. Warriors Betting Trends
- The Mavericks are 2-5 in their last seven postseason road games (3-4 ATS).
- The Mavs are 5-2 in their last seven meetings against Dallas (4-3 ATS).
- The totals went over in three of the Mavs’ last five games on the road.
- As mentioned earlier, the Warriors have won eight straight home games in the playoffs and nine straight overall (7-2 ATS).
- The Dubs are 6-2 in their last eight outings as favorite to win (3-5 ATS).
- The totals went under in four of the last five games played in Chase Center.
Mavericks vs. Warriors Expert Betting Prediction
Considering the final score of Game 1, one would assume that the Warriors would be heavier favorites than what their current odds would imply. Still, the Mavs have had success against Golden State during the regular season and one explosive performance from Doncic is all it takes for Dallas to get back in the series. In turn, there should be more Dallas backers in Game 2 regardless of how great the Dubs looked in the season opener.
