New York Giants 2022 Top MVP Sleeper Pick

By Rex

The New York Giants finished the 2021 NFL season with one of the worst records. With only four wins in 17 games, the team looks to record better numbers with new head coach Brian Daboll at the helm. The Giants last made the playoffs in 2016. However, their appearance was cut short after losing the Wild Card Round.

With considerable changes to the system and additional pieces to the lineup, the Giants look forward to a better season. We make a different approach and highlight the top sleeper MVP candidate for the New York Giants in the 2022 NFL season.

Quarterback Salvation

Headlining the MVP list for the Giants is quarterback Daniel Jones (+15,000). But as we look beyond the quarterback selection, we find several sleeper candidates for the title this season.

Saquon Barkley ranks better than the Giants’ starting quarterback, which is not a common sight in a QB-dominated title. Aa a +10,000 sleeper, Barkley is likely playing at the forefront of New York’s attacking efforts. Since his breakout rookie season, the running back went through injury woes and missed 21 games after his ACL tear last season.

However, if he can reestablish his form in 2022, the 25-year-old offers versatility like no other player. He has tricks under his sleeves that can take over games and play security blanket for Daniel Jones. We haven’t seen his true potential since joining the 2018 draft, but he has moves that resemble Barry Sanders when playing the open field and can smoke DBs.

Updated Giants’ Super Bowl 57 Odds

Several variables contribute to the Giants’ futures odds. They are slated as +800 underdogs to win the NFC East division. Things get tougher in the NFC Championship category as they trail the Carolina Panthers (+3,300) as +4,000 underdogs. There’s no guarantee that the team will undergo overnight improvement under Brian Daboll’s system, but things could take a turn if everything comes together.

At the moment, New York is stretched to +8,000 underdogs. These aren’t exactly promising numbers, especially for a team that could struggle to make the playoffs. Nonetheless, many anticipate a better showing from the squad this time around.
