New York Knicks 2022 NBA Draft Best Picks
The New York Knicks get the No. 11 pick in the upcoming 2022 NBA Draft. There are a few scenarios the franchise could put together to move forward from an underwhelming 2021-22 season. The team can draft a player to fill a role in the following season.
The top guns of the class Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero will likely find a destination within the first three picks. Nitrobetting’s 2022 NBA Draft odds have the aforementioned leading the NBA Draft 2022 No. 1 pick. Nevertheless, the Knicks have a competent list of players to choose from at No. 11.
On the other hand, they can use the first-round pick as part of a possible trade or a combination of the No. 11 pick and a player for a better position on draft day. Despite not ranking high enough for the team to snatch a top-four pick, there are solid names that could go their way following the Draft Combine. Furthermore, there’s even a slight chance that the franchise could find a way to improve their position with a deal for the No. 4 pick with the Kings.
The possibilities will only start to open up for the organization moving forward. With that, Nitrobetting goes over the three best targets for the Knicks at the end of June.

PG Dyson Daniels – G League Ignite
The six-foot-seven guard from Australia boasts an even more impressive six-foot-ten wingspan. The prospect spent the previous year honing his skills with the G League Ignite, and the Combine shed light on his abilities. The 19-year-old played 14 games in the G League and averaged 11.3 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists in 31 minutes on the floor. He shot close to 45% from the field and 25.5% from deep. The youngster also hit 73.7% of his shots from the line.
He needs to develop his shooting competence and work on his confidence as a guard. But the good thing about Daniels is his handles, vision, and passing accuracy. It also helps that he dipped his toes in the G League and played against and alongside players who have experience in the NBA. If the Knicks fail to secure a more consistent point guard, the Australian can end up playing starting guard for the team.
SG Ochai Agbaji – Kansas
The 22-year-old spent four years with the Kansas Jayhawks as a starter. He has an undeniable talent and has experience playing under pressure. In the 39 games he showed up for in Kansas’ championship run this past year, the shooting guard averaged 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists in 35 minutes. He has impressive shooting numbers that saw him shoot 47.5% from the floor and 40.9% from the three-point line.
Agbaji holds physical attributes that make him a great defender. He has a six-foot-ten wingspan and averaged over 1.0 steals in his four years with the Jayhawks. While he needs work in several departments, he drew up improving numbers as he reached the end of his college career. There’s little chance that he plays starting point guard for the Knicks, but he’s a decent ball-handler overall.
PF Jeremy Sochan – Baylor
New York needs defensive reliability, and the man from Baylor is a promising candidate to plug the holes. His skillset packs a punch the Knicks can benefit from. The offseason is a crucial one for the Eastern Conference side because they need to move forward from a disappointing season. Mitchell Robinson is now a free agent, Julius Randle’s future with the franchise is questionable, and Obi Toppin worked tremendously for the team, but the team still does not have a reliable point guard.
Draft night is just around the corner, and Jeremy Sochan is a top candidate to erase several question marks that go with the Knicks’ name. Getting back to their roots defensively is a good start, and this pick provides additional building blocks to be successful on both ends of the floor.
