How did Ngannou versus Fury come to fruition?
Try as he might, Tyson Fury couldn’t get a deal together against any of the other top heavyweights. Fury fought last December against Derek Chisora, stopping that rival in the tenth.
Since then, Fury has attempted to set bouts against Andy Ruiz, Anthony Joshua, and Oleksandr Usyk. For one reason or another, all three bouts fell apart.
Ngannou has always wanted to box. So when the opportunity arose, Fury couldn’t resist. Not only that, but Tyson developed a relationship with the Saudis after his brother, Tommy, beat Jake Paul in a bout in the Kingdom.
So Tyson’s and Francis’ people got together and Ngannou versus Fury was born.
Francis Ngannou profile
The 6’ 4”, 257 pounds Cameroonian mixed martial artist was one of UFC’s top champions. From 2018 to January last year, Ngannou ruled the heavyweight division.
Ngannou beat Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, Jairzinho Rozenstruik, Stipe Miocic, and Ciryl Gane during his reign.
Ngannou won his first four title defenses: over Blaydes, Velasquez, Dos Santos, and Rozenstruik via first round stoppage. The man can hit for sure.
Tyson Fury profile
Anybody who knows boxing knows the name Tyson Fury. Fury is already one of the greatest heavyweights to ever put on a pair of boxing gloves.
Tyson has an undefeated 33-0-1 record. Fury has knocked out 24 of his opponents. One of the reasons a deal couldn’t get made versus Ruiz, Joshua, or Usyk is because outside Usyk, no other heavyweight on the planet can hang with Fury.
What will oddsmakers set the line at?
Oddsmakers have already set a money line. Fury is a massive -1000 favorite to get it done versus Ngannou.
Oddsmakers require more details, like whether Fury’s belts will be on the line and if the fight is an exhibition or if it will count on boxing records, before setting a total. Also, there should be a handicap line.
So although the money line is unplayable, oddsmakers will set lines that should attract action.
What is the predicted best bet for the bout?
Over the total should be the most lucrative bet. Tyson Fury likes to give fans what they crave, great action. Also, Francis Ngannou has a decent chin.
So Fury versus Ngannou should be a terrific bout that goes the distance. Neither one of these guys will go down easily and although Fury should win, he won’t push the envelope in an exhibition.
Over the total rounds, once oddsmakers set a total, projects as the best play for Fury versu Ngannou.
