PF Jabari Smith – Auburn

Perhaps it’s time for the Magic to abandon their plans with former sixth-overall pick and starting power forward Jonathan Issac, who has not played a game since August 2020 due to a torn ACL along with hamstring issues. Many experts are high on Orlando going with Jabari Smith with the first-overall pick. The SEC Freshman of the Year averaged 16.9 points and shot 42 percent from the field and from three-point range in his lone season in Auburn, as Smith aims to become the focal point of the Magic’s offense with his extremely wide range.

PF Paolo Banchero – Duke

Another power forward that the Magic may consider is Duke standout Paolo Banchero, who actually has slightly better raw counting stats (17.2 points, 7.8 rebounds per game in his final season in Durham) than Smith before him. However, Banchero’s three-point accuracy (33.8 percent) pales compared to Smith, so it’ll be interesting to see if Orlando will side with the former’s balance as a four-way power forward over the latter’s higher scoring ceiling.

C Chet Holmgren – Gonzaga

The Magic already employ two promising centers in Wendell Carter Jr. and Mo Bamba. However, they might still want to keep Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren in the back of their minds. Holmgren’s stock has risen in the experts’ eyes of late, as the WCC Defensive Player of the Year also has double-double potential written all over him (14.1 PPG, 9.9 RPG) to go with tremendous defensive chops. Holmgren averaged nearly four blocks per contest in his final season with the Zags, as his massive wingspan and immense upside may be enough to woo the Magic in this direction instead.
