Why Bet on the Penn State Nittany Lions?

The Nittany Lions offense averages 381.4 yards per game. The rushing attack accounts for 110.5 yards each contest. Quarterback Sean Clifford throws for 270.9 yards each game. When Clifford is on, the Lions can move the football. The average points scored is just 26.2. Penn State, though, has exceeded that average in 2 of their last 3 games, 31 versus Maryland and 28 against Rutgers.

Because Penn State has a 7-4 record, the Nittany Lions’ fantastic performance on defense this season has gone mostly unnoticed. Penn State ranks fourth in the nation in points allowed per game. Opponents average just 15.5 points each contest.

The Lions rank twenty-sixth in total yards allowed per. Opposing teams average just 334.2 yards each game. Teams rush for 131.3 while the Lions’ D holds opponents to an average of 202.9 passing yards each contest.

Why Bet on the Michigan State Spartans?

The Spartans’ offense averages a terrific 430.2 total yards per. Although most feel MSU’s offense is all about running back Kenneth Walker III, Sparty can pass the football. Michigan State averages 243.3 passing yards per game. Walker III and the other running backs go for an average of 186.9 yards each contest. MSU has turned the ball over just 6 times this season. Because the Spartans are careful with the ball, the offense is able to avearge over 32 points per game.

Michigan State’s defense has had trouble locking down opponents. The D allows an uncharacteristic 463.2 yards per game. Opponents average 122.9 per on the ground and 340.3 yards through the air each game. MSU allows 25.5 points each time they step onto the field.

Penn State vs. Michigan State Expert Betting Predictions

To be fair, Michigan State’s stats averages in points allowed and total yards took a huge hit in Week 12’s 56-7 loss to Ohio State. Before the Ohio State game, MSU’s average points allowed was less. But just becuase Sparty played better before suffering the blowout loss, it doesn’t mean they’ll return to playing better versus Penn State. The truth about this game is that Penn State is the better team.

The Nittany Lions had a 17-10 lead at halftime in the 23-20 loss to Iowa. The second loss happened in overtime versus Illinois, a team the Lions overlooked becuase the week after they faced Ohio State. Penn State played the Buckeyes tough, falling by 9, 24-33, as a +18.5 underdog. Anyway we look at it, the Nittany Lions have advantages in this game.

Lions’ coach James Franklin signed a 10-year contract to stay in Happy Valley. One of the reasons Penn State handed Franklin the contract is because he was on the short list of candidates to take over the head coaching job at LSU. Franklin has the overall better team and motivation to show he’s worth the contract. Expect the Lions to beat Michigan State on Saturday.
