Love Hurts in the City of Brotherly Love

In his second year in the NFL, Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts displayed immense potential as one of the league’s most versatile play-callers today. In 15 regular-season games, Hurts threw for over 3,100 yards whilst also running for 784 yards and 10 rushing touchdowns. On the other hand, the former CFP champion only threw 16 passing TDs to nine interceptions, which is why he’s merely a (+2,500) sleeper candidate to win the MVP award this season.

Those odds are still good enough for Hurts to qualify as a top-12 QB amongst his peers odds-wise. But with plenty of elite competition at the position, perhaps banking on a different Eagles standout would be a better choice for Philly fans. That being said, one might want to consider placing stakes on one of Hurts’ downfield threats.

Wide receiver Devonta Smith packs a ton of value with (+15,000) odds to win the 2022 NFL MVP award at that. The Eagles’ 10th-overall pick from last year’s draft didn’t disappoint with 64 receptions for 916 receiving yards and five TD catches in his rookie campaign. Smith’s reunion with fellow ‘Bama alum Hurts continues the trend of college QB-WR pairings terrifically lighting it up in the pros like what’s happening in Cincinnati and Miami. However, the arrival of another stud wideout in A.J. Brown might end up eating up some of Smith’s production in the latter’s sophomore campaign.
