Esteban Ocon
After scoring his first F1 Grand Prix victory in 2021 in Hungary, Esteban Ocon maintained his relationship with French constructor Alpine in 2023 alongside fellow countryman Pierre Gasly. Ocon never backed down from a challenge since making his debut. He started his career with Mercedes and Manor before Moving to Force India for a few seasons. Off-track drama led him in a different direction where he eventually found a position as a Mercedes reserve driver. Although Mercedes didn’t offer him a permanent position for the following season, Ocon returned to the grid in 2020 with Renault until the team rebranded as Alpine.
Last season, Ocon finished eighth in the Drivers’ Championship. He logged a best finish of P4, including a pair of unfortunate DNFs. The French driver held an average finish of 8.2 with an average grid position of 11.64, which is an upward trend any team wants to see. Moreover, the Évreux-born wheelman scored points in 16 of the 22 races he started.
So far this season, the 26-year-old collected 31 World Championship points and a podium finish. This speaks volumes after Ocon failed to produce a P3 finish or better last year. He currently holds an average finish of 9.88 and an average grid position of 9.3 in ten races started. Ocon already has six points finishes since the start of the calendar and ranks tenth in the 2023 Driver Standings.
Pierre Gasly
The Rouen-born driver switched to Alpine for 2023 to team up with compatriot Esteban Ocon. The former AlphaTauri driver is out to establish himself on the all-French team moving forward. His roots date back to a family deeply immersed in motorsports. His grandfather competed in karting. This passed onto Pierre’s father, Jean Jaques, who then competed in karting, endurance racing, and rallying.
Pierre’s early career started in competitive karting in 2006. He moved up to the international scene three years after, then moved to single-seater racing by 2011. Gasly moved to the Formula Renault 3.5 series in 2014, racing under the Red Bull Junior Team development program. The young talent made his GP2 series in 2014 at Monza and broke through the top-tier racing division a year after when he was named as Red Bull’s reserve driver in September 2015. He made his Formula 1 debut for sister team Toro Rosso at the 2017 Malaysian Grand Prix.
A turbulent season with AlphaTauri marked his final with the team before taking his talent to the French team Alpine. Having spent most of his career under the Red Bull organization, many are excited for Gasly and his future in a different environment. So far in 2023, he appeared in ten races and scored 16 World Championship points good for 12th place in the Drivers Championship table. Pierre holds a season-best finish of P7 in ten races, mated with an average finish of 11 and a near-exact average grid position of 11.1.
