Providence vs. UConn NCAAB Odds and Preview – February 22nd, 2023

By Hank Blaine

No. 20 Providence still has a shot to win the Big East regular-season title but needs a win at a very talented but inconsistent and No. 18 UConn squad on Wednesday to keep those hopes alive. The Huskies can’t win the regular-season crown.

On Jan. 4, Providence was unranked when it knocked off No. 4 UConn 73-61. Sophomore Bryce Hopkins led the way for the Friars with a game-high 27 points, including a 13-for-15 clip from the free throw line. Senior Ed Croswell chipped in with a double-double, 13 points and 13 boards. Graduate student Noah Locke added 17 points on 3-for-6 from three-point territory. Jordan Hawkins led the way for the Huskies with 15. Donovan Clingan finished with a double-double, 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Providence finished 18-49 (36.7%) from the field, 8-18 (44.4%) from three and 29-35 (82.9%) from the free throw line. UConn finished 23-63 (36.5%) from the field, 5-22 (22.7%) from three and 10-19 (52.6%) from the free throw line. It was the Friars’ first win over a Top 5 opponent since March 9, 2018.
