Why Bet on the Las Vegas Raiders?

Part sloppy, part amazing, the Las Vegas Raiders ultimately got the job done and secured a nail-biting 33-27 overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens in the first Monday Night Football game of the 2021 season. The Raiders were far from perfect that evening, but it’s the Ravens who had it worse, namely former league MVP Lamar Jackson.

Las Vegas’ defense forced two huge fumbles against Jackson both late into the fourth quarter and during the extra period. The team did commit nine offensive penalties, though, giving Baltimore plenty of opportunities to run away with the victory. Thankfully, Raiders veteran quarterback Derek Carr was poised under pressure, throwing for 435 yards and two touchdowns.

Tight end Darren Waller was a beast as expected as well, hauling in 10 catches for 105 receiving yards and one of Carr’s two passing TDs. WHat’s still a concern, however, is that the Raiders still gave up over 400 yards of offense to the Ravens, and that will not pass against a formidable Steelers passing game.

Why Bet on the Pittsburgh Steelers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers also had a thrilling battle in Week 1 and they escaped Buffalo with a 23-16 win over the favored Bills. Both sides had defenses that bent but never broke all the way, and it was Pittsburgh’s D that did a better job in keeping the opposing QB (Josh Allen ) in check.

On the other hand, the Steelers’ own offense still needs a lot of work to do, as old-timer Ben Roethlisberger finished with just 188 passing yards and a passing TD, converting just 18 of his 32 pass attempts. Pittsburgh’s running game was also non-existent, as the team mustered up just 74 rushing yards on 21 carries playing behind a revamped offensive line that lost a few key pieces from last year’s roster.

Nevertheless, a win over preseason darling Buffalo is still a good sign that the Terrible Towel-waving franchise is able to topple over one of the NFL’s elite teams. The Steelers must avoid being blindsided by a Raiders side that’s been able to escape with narrow victories against them of late.

Raiders vs. Steelers Betting Trends

  • The Raiders are 7-3 in their last 10 regular-season games on the road (6-4 ATS).
  • The Raiders are 5-2 against Pittsburgh since 2006 (6-1 ATS), with the last three wins each having been decided by three points apiece.
  • The totals have gone under in six of Vegas’ last eight road games in general.
  • The Steelers went 7-1 at home during the regular season last year (5-3 ATS).
  • The Steelers are just 2-4 against the AFC West since 2018 (1-5 ATS).
  • The totals have gone over in three of Pittsburgh’s last four regular-season contests.

Raiders vs. Steelers Expert Betting Predictions

Thanks to home-field advantage, the Steelers get the benefit of the doubt as slight favorites to win in Week 2. On the other hand, there’s no denying that the Raiders were very impressive in beating the Ravens themselves whilst also overcoming some issues of their own. Another fun fact is that all eight teams from the West Coast won in Week 1, giving the Silver and Black even more good vibes heading into their first road game of the season.
