Why Bet on the Los Angeles Rams?

It’s the fourth meeting between the teams since last November. They split in the 2020 regular season with each winning at home. In an NFC wild-card game in Seattle, the Rams were 30-20 upset winners. Cam Akers was the offensive star for Los Angeles in rushing for 131 yards and a touchdown – although he’s out injured this season.

Defensively, the Rams allowed just 278 total yards and 11 first downs and sacked Russell Wilson five times. Wilson had two TD passes but was just 11-for-27 for 147 yards with a pick that was returned for a touchdown. Seattle never played with the lead and was 2 of 14 on third downs. It was the team’s first home playoff loss since January 2005 to the St. Louis Rams.

The Rams looked like perhaps the best team in the NFL entering Week 4 but then were dominated 37-20 by Arizona. Matthew Stafford completed 26-of-41 passes for 280 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in his worst game with the Rams. A lot of his numbers came late in the game when it was already decided.

Tight end Tyler Higbee and running back Darrell Henderson both were limited in practice early this week but both should play Thursday as both did Sunday. Henderson returned after missing a game injured and had 89 yards on 14 carries.

The Rams lead the NFL with a league low 0.8 sacks-allowed per game. They have given up three sacks for 29 yards all season. Last week against Arizona they did not allow a sack. Seattle’s defense is tied for 14th in the NFL with 2.2 sacks per game.

Why Bet on the Seattle Seahawks?

Seattle was a 28-21 winner at San Francisco on Sunday to improve to 2-2. Russell Wilson threw for two scores and rushed for one. He won for the 100th time as a starter in the regular season, joining Peyton Manning as the only quarterbacks ever to do that in their first 10 seasons.

Wilson has a passer rating of 110-or-higher and no interceptions in each of his first four games this season, just the third QB in NFL history with a rating of 110-or-higher and no interceptions in each of his team’s first four games of a season. In nine career home starts against the Rams, Wilson has recorded 18 touchdowns (16 passing, two rushing) with three interceptions for a 107.8 rating.

The Rams average 28.8 points a game, and are only giving up 24.8 points a game and Seattle is averaging 25.8 ppg and allowing 25.0. The Seahawks averaged those numbers against four teams with a combined 2020 regular season record of 35-29, the Rams have faced four opponents that went 38-36 in 2020. The Seahawks have allowed an average of 152 rush yards per game. The Tennessee Titans hung 212 rushing yards on them and the Minnesota Vikings and 49ers ran for 140 yards.

All-time the Rams are 7-9 when playing on Thursday, and they have won four of their last six matchups against Seattle. The last time the Rams played Seattle on Thursday Night Football was on Oct. 3 2019, when the Seahawks won 30-29. Dating back to Week 7 of the 2013 season, Seattle has won nine consecutive games played on Thursday and can join the Indianapolis Colts (11 consecutive wins in Thursday games from Week 12, 2004 to Week 5, 2015) as the only teams to win 10 consecutive games played on Thursday.
