Why Bet on the New Orleans Saints?

The Saints could not follow up their huge Week 1 win over the Green Bay Packers with another in Week 2, as they lost to the Carolina Panthers last Sunday, 26-7.

In their losing efforts, quarterback Jameis Winston finished his stint with 111 yards on 11-of-22 passing and 2 interceptions. He also led the rushing plays with 19 yards on 3 carries and a touchdown. Receiving was held back to 128 total yards, with the trio of Lil’Jordan Humphrey, Alvin Kamara, and Juwan Johnson combining for 75 yards. It was a busy night for the Saints’ defense as Demario Davis documented a team-high 12 tackles (8 solo).

Paulson Adebo and Malcolm Jenkins recorded 7 tackles (6 solo) and 6 tackles (5 solo), respectively. Payton Turner listed the only sack of the night, while Malcolm Roach grabbed the only interception of the unit. Meanwhile, left cornerback Marshon Lattimore is expected to remain sidelined due to injury. Ultimately, the Saints have to step up on both ends of the field if they want to secure the win this weekend.

Why Bet on the New England Patriots?

At the other end of the spectrum is a team trying to make up for lost time. After failing to qualify for the playoffs in 2020-21, the Pats now look more determined to finish with a better record. In their last game, they held the Jets down to 6 points. Although the game looks neck and neck on paper, New England converted more scoring opportunities. Mac Jones did well to get 186 passing yards on 22-of-30 passing by the end of the game.

Although their receiving plays were limited to under 200 yards, the Patriots did well to execute rushing plays. Damien Harris and James White grabbed 2 rushing touchdowns and combined for 82 yards on 21 carries.

Defensively, Ja’Whaun Bentley topped the side with 8 tackles (6 solo), while Devin McCourty contributed 5 tackles (4 solo) and an interception. It was a good day for the patriots as Josh Uche grabbed 2 sacks and 3 solo tackles, followed by Carl Davis and Matthey Judon with 1 sack each. As for injuries, we don’t expect strongside linebacker Kyle Van Noy to return anytime soon. Uche takes care of the position and is easily a reliable replacement for the starter.

Saints vs. Patriots Expert Betting Predictions

We’ve seen the Saints go through several ups and downs early into the season, leaving several unanswered questions. As for the spread, there’s a good possibility that the Saints make the game close enough to cover it. Moreover, a win is not off the table for the team. Nonetheless, the Patriots have more momentum after they scored their first win of the season last weekend. With a reliable quarterback, consistent defense, and home-field advantage, they come into the game as favorites.
