Why Bet on the San Antonio Brahmas?

With a 30-12 victory last Sunday over the Orlando Guardians, the Hines Ward-led San Antonio Brahmas have a win under their belt. Not only that, but they scored the most points amongst all teams in Week 2.

Whereas the running game kept San Antonio in its Week 1 loss, the passing game was revitalized this past weekend with promising quarterback Jack Coan lighting up the Guardians. Coan completed 16 of his 24 pass attempts for 165 and three passing touchdowns. However, is that due to his natural ability to find the end zone, or is this yet another knock on Orlando’s terrible defense?

San Antonio’s defense also has to be prepared for a Houston offense that is merely average at best. However, that concern pales in comparison to the looming threat of the Roughnecks’ stout defense. That leads us to…

Why Bet on the Houston Roughnecks?

After the convincing 23-14 win over the Arlington Renegades in Week 2, the Houston Roughnecks claim sole possession of the top spot in the crowded South Division of the XFL where all three Texas-based teams reside.

Not only is Houston the only undefeated team in the division, but the team also has a league-best plus-20 point differential thanks to a pair of blowout wins over its division rivals. Quarterback Brandon Silver has stayed cool under pressure under center, while the backfield tandem of running backs Max Borghi and Nick Holley (each with a TD run against the Renegades) has been hard to stop.

On top of that, the Roughnecks have the best defense in the league, hands down. They shut out Arlington in the second half to stay unbeaten and have racked up a total of 12 sacks and five interceptions to opposing QBs in the first two weeks alone. We expected a team coached by Wade Phillips to be good and Houston has met those expectations and then some.

San Antonio Brahmas vs. Houston Roughnecks Expert Betting Predictions

As inspiring as last week’s win was for the Brahmas, the Roughnecks appear too unstoppable with an impenetrable defense coupled with an offense that does just enough to put points on the scoreboard. San Antonio’s running game is the best plan of attack against Houston’s defense, but we still see this contest easily going to the Roughnecks by a margin of at least two scoring possessions.
