Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – June 20th, 2022

By Hank Blaine

Wimbledon, the third major of the year, starts in earnest next week. Players that have already qualified for Wimbledon are honing their skills at lower-level tournaments. The two tournaments on the ATP are the Rothesay International Eastbourne in Eastbourne, Great Britain and the Mallorca Championships in Mallorca, Spain.

Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week (June 20th, 2022)

ATP – Eastbourne, Great Britain

Diego Schwartzman vs. Jack Draper

Favored Jack Draper heads into this after easily beating Jensen Brooksby in the first round. Draper, a 20-year-old from Sutton, England, beat Brooksby 6-2, 6-2. This is Schwartzman’s first match at the Rothesay International Eastbourne. Schwartzman didn’t look good in his last match played, losing to Sam Querrey 1-6, 4-6 at the Cinch Championships. There’s a chance Schwartzman bounces back. He played all the way to the fourth round at the French Open. At the odds, the Argentinian is worth a look.

Tennis Betting Pick: Diego Schwartzman +132

Cameron Norrie vs. Brandon Nakashima

Norrie is the Rothesay International Eastbourne’s top seed. Norrie has yet to play at Eastbourne, but he should know the courts well because he is a British citizen. Like Schwartzman, Norrie didn’t play well at the Cinch Championships, falling to Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 (7-2), 1-6, 4-6 in his first match. Brandon Nakashima, a 20-year-old from the U.S., dusted Jay Clarke 6-1, 6-3 in his first round match. Norrie should win. But the odds imply Nakashima has a chance. The underdog can surprise.

Tennis Betting Pick: Brandon Nakashima +132

ATP – Mallorca, Spain

Tallon Griekspoor vs. Alex Molcan

It took Griekspoor four sets to get past his Mallorca Championships first round opponent. Griekspoor beat Feliciano Lopez 7-6 (7-3), 7-6 (7-3). Alex Molcan knocked out 7-seed Miomir Kecmanovic in straight sets. Molcan beat Kecmanovic 7-5, 6-4. Kecmanovic is a very good tennis player. So the underdog has a chance in this. If Griekspoor is tired, Molcan will take advantage.

Tennis Betting Pick: Alex Molcan +129

Ilya Ivashka vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas

The goal for Tsitsipas is a Wimbledon victory. But Stefanos isn’t playing well. In his last tournament played, it took Tsitsipas four sets to get past Benjamin Bonzi. Then in his second match, Nick Kyrgios beat Stefanos. But although Tsitsipas isn’t playing his best, Ilya Ivashka shouldn’t post a problem. The 28-year- old Belarussian beat Emil Ruusuvuori in his first match. This is a major step up in class. The chalk wins in straight sets.

Tennis Betting Pick: Stefanos Tsitsipas -217

Daniil Medvedev vs. Aslan Karatsev

In his first match at the Mallorca Championships, Karatsev beat Jaume Munar in three sets. Karatsev faces the ATP’s top-ranked tennis player on Wednesday. So we shouldn’t expect another victory. Can the underdog keep it close? That’s doubtful. Medvedev fell to Herbert Hurkacz in his last, the Terra Wortmann Open Final. Medvedev will be all out to win this tournament because Wimbledon has shut out Russian players. Daniil dominates.

Tennis Betting Pick: Daniil Medvedev -4.5

Benjamin Bonzi vs. Denis Shapovalov

Benjamin Bonzi won via a walkover in his first Mallorca match. Bonzi was ahead of Alejandro Tabilo 4-2 in the second set before Tabilo retired. Shapovalov fell to Tommy Paul in his first Cinch Championship match. Shapovalov should bounce back with an excellent performance on Wednesday. Expect the favorite to send Bonzi packing.

Tennis Betting Pick: Denis Shapovalov -189
