Dimitrov rolled through his first round opponent, dominating Brandon Nakashima 6-3, 6-4. If we go back to last week at the Mutua Madrid Open, Dimitrov marched into the third round without losing a set. But in the third round, Grigor ended up facing his opponent in this, Stefanos Tsitsipas. The Athens born player easily handled Dimitrov 6-3, 6-4. Tsitsipas went on to beat Andrey Rublev before falling to Alexander Zverev in the semifinals at the Mutua Madrid. Stefanos takes this.

Pablo Carreno Busta vs. Karen Kachanov

The slight dog in this blasted Giulio Zeppieri 6-3, 6-4 in his first match. Kachanov hasn’t played great in the last few tournaments. But neither has Carreno Busta. The favorite fell in the first round at the Mutua Madrid. The odds make the dog more than playable.

Garbine Muguruza vs. Yulia Putintseva

Muguruza got the draw. So her contest versus Yulia Putintseva will be Garbine’s first match at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia. At the Mutua Madrid, Muguruza didn’t play well, falling in the second round to Anhelina Kalinina. Yulia Putintseva struggled versus Kaja Juvan in the first round. Juvan won a set 6-4. Not only that, but Putintseva won both her sets 7-5. Still, Putintseva has had a match at the tournament while Muguruza hasn’t. That gives us enough reason to back the slight underdog.

Petra Martic vs. Anett Kontaveit

Martic is a solid player. Petra faced off against strong Karolina Muchova in the first round. Based on her last tournament played, she should have no trouble beating Martic. At the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, Kontaveit beat Angelique Kerber in three sets, knocked out Ekaterina Alexandrova in four sets, and pushed Aryna Sabalenka to three sets. Those are three of the top women’s tennis players in the world. The chalk wins this.

Simona Halep vs. Danielle Rose Collins

Halep’s Mutua Madrid Open ended in the quarterfinals when the former number one fell to Ons Jabeur 3-6, 2-6. Halep hopes to extend her Internazionali BNL d’Italia open with a second round victory versus Danielle Rose Collins.
At the Mutua Madrid, Collins bested Monic Puig in the first round 7-5, 6-0. The underdog in this then fell to Bianca Andreescu 1-6, 1-6. What’s interesting about this match is that Collins got the first round bye, not Halep. Simona beat Alize Cornet in the first round. It’s difficult to see Collins beating Halep. So we’ll go with the favorite.
