Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week – September 12th, 2022

By Hank Blaine

The WTA is back at it this week with matches happening in a couple of tournaments. The Tiriac Foundation Trophy happens in Bucharest, Romania. Then over in Portoroz, Slovenia it’s the Zavaralvonica Sava Portoroz. See below for tennis odds, analysis, and free picks for matches from both of this week’s WTA tournaments.

Top Tennis Betting Picks of the Week (September 12th, 2022)

WTA – Bucharest, Romania

Reka Luka Jani vs. Nuria Brancaccio

Luka Jani hasn’t won a singles or doubles title this season. Still, she’s played excellent tennis, pocketing the most she’s ever had, over $207k, in a single year. Jani has a terrific 43-26 singles record. She never takes a week off, which makes her difficult to beat in this.

Underdog Brancaccio is just 22 years old. She made it all the way to the Pen delle Puglie finals in her last. The younger player has a shot.

Tennis Betting Pick: Nuria Brancaccio +152

Ekaterine Gorgodze vs. Aliona Bolsova

Bolsova is a 24 year old from Spain. Who knows? Maybe, fellow Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz’s amazing US Open run bolsters her confidence. Gorgodze failed to qualify for the US Open. Ekaterine hasn’t played since that match while Bolsova played a couple of matches to qualify for the Tiriac. Aliona gets the nod due to her recent activity.

Tennis Betting Pick: Aliona Bolsova -110

Irina Bara vs. Ipek Oz

Bara is the slight favorite even though she lost her first and only U.S. Open qualifying match. Bara has won over $362,000 even though she has a losing 22-24 singles match record this season.

Ipek Oz qualified for the Tiriac after beating Jessie Aney and then losing to Aliona Bolsova after 3 sets and 2 tiebreakers. Oz’s more recent activity makes her the play.

Tennis Betting Pick: Ipek Oz -105

WTA – Portoroz, Slovenia

Ajla Tomljanovic vs. Ana Bogdan

Bogdan won her first US Open qualifying match but then lost her second. The underdog in this has sat on the bench for at least a couple of weeks. Tomljanovic had a decent US Open run.

Ajla made it all the way to the quarterfinals, beating Serena Williams in the process, before falling to Ons Jabeur after a couple of sets and a tiebreaker. Tomljanovic should be ready to roll in this tournament.

Tennis Betting Pick: Ajla Tomljanovic -256

Kaja Juvan vs. Alize Cornet

Juvan didn’t win her US Open qualifying first match. But she did play well, pushing Cristina Bucsa to a 4-6, 4-6 match. Alize Cornet knocked out 2021 US Open champ Emma Raducanu at this year’s US Open. She beat Katerina Siniakova in the second round before falling in the first. Cornet should have no trouble taking down Juvan.

Tennis Betting Pick: Alize Cornet -196

Martina Trevisan vs. Katerina Siniakova

Trevisan lost her first US Open qualifying match. She hasn’t played since. Siniakova beat Taylor Townsend 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 in her the first round at the US Open. Siniakova ran into a tough Alize Cornet in round 2. No doubt, the chalk is playing better than the dog. But Trevisan had a decent French Open run earlier this year. Martina is worth backing at the odds.

Tennis Betting Pick: Martina Trevisan +120
