Tiger’s Last Trip to Augusta
At the age of 44, Tiger Woods made his 23rd-career Masters start in 2020, finishing tied for 38th overall at the event. While Woods’ most recent start in Augusta is less-than-memorable, his win in 2019 will forever be remembered as Tiger’s redemption arc.
Woods’ win at the 2019 Masters was his first win at Augusta since 2005 and his fifth overall victory at the timeless tournament. A victory in this year’s Masters Tournament would break Woods’ tie with Sam Snead for the most PGA TOUR money event wins in history. The two golf legends are currently tied at 82-career wins apiece.
Will Tiger Woods Play at the 2022 Masters?
Earlier this week, Woods was listed as one of the 86 invitees for the 2022 Masters. He received the automatic invite thanks to his past wins at Augusta, but Woods himself has not publicly announced his involvement in this year’s run of the tournament. A car accident on February 21 of the previous held him out of action for the 2021 Masters.
Since 2014, Woods has missed The Masters on three separate occasions (2014, 2016, 2017). Personal problems and a myriad of injuries have kept Tiger on the sidelines for a huge chunk of the past decade. On a brighter note, the 2021 World Golf Hall of Fame inductee has recently been seen on the links over the past few months, even participating in a golf event with his son, Charlie.
Latest 2022 Masters Odds
As of this writing, Jon Rahm is the odds-on favorite to win the 2022 Masters at (+850). Rahm won his first and only major tournament in 2021 in the U.S. Open and his best finish at Augusta was a solo fourth-place finish in 2018.
Woods, meanwhile, does not have his own odds to win the 2022 Masters just yet. He will likely warrant decent sleeper value or borderline-favorite odds in the event that he makes his Masters return official in the coming days.
