Why Bet on the Minnesota Timberwolves?
Minnesota tied the series with a 119-118 victory in Game 4 on Saturday after blowing multiple 20-point-plus leads and losing Game 3 at home. Wolves star Karl-Anthony Towns wasn’t very good or aggressive in Game 3 with just eight points but was a much different player in Game 4. In 42 minutes of action, he exploded for 33 points and 14 rebounds.
Towns came out aggressive from the jump, refusing to settle for jumpers and getting into the lane to draw free throws – he finished 14-for-17 from the charity stripe. Wolves coach Chris Finch said afterward that Towns played “pissed and loose.” The most free throws Towns had ever attempted in a playoff game was eight, and he more than doubled that in Game 4.
Towns became the second Timberwolves player to tally 30+ points/10+ rebounds in a playoff game (Kevin Garnett, 7x) and fifth player in this year’s NBA playoff to have such a game. His 14 made free throws were one shy of the franchise record of 15 set by Troy Hudson vs. L.A. Lakers on April 22, 2003.
“I was just determined to force [the Grizzlies’] hand,” Towns said. “I was going to be aggressive and do whatever it took to get the ball. I went about different ways of attacking, different points of attack and different ways of getting the ball in my hands. We all watched tape and we all had to get the job done. That’s what it was about for me.”
Anthony Edwards finished the game with 24 points on 7-of-14 shooting, including 4-of-8 from deep, his third 20+ point performance this series. He joined Stephen Curry (2013) as the only players in NBA postseason history to knock down 4+ threes in each of his first four playoff games. Edwards has tallied 99 points through four playoff games to begin his NBA playoff career, the most points through four games to begin a playoff career in Timberwolves history.
Jordan McLaughlin didn’t even play for Minnesota in Game 3 but scored 16 huge points for the Timberwolves in Game 4. McLaughlin hit all four 3-pointers he took and finished 5-6 from the field. He certainly will not be benched for Game 5.
Why Bet on the Memphis Grizzlies?
Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins was furious after Game 4 in noting the vast disparity in fouls called on the Grizzles (33) compared to the Timberwolves (23), and the fact that Minnesota shot 15 more free-throws than the Grizzlies in the game. Each Grizzlies starter had two fouls by the 11:32 mark of the second quarter. That trend continued in the second half as four Grizzlies starters had four fouls by the end of the third quarter. Jenkins was fined $15K by the NBA.
“In my opinion, one of the most poorly-officiated games I’ve ever seen in my NBA career,” said Jenkins. “All five of our starters are borderline fouled out in the first quarter.”
Memphis star Ja Morant shot just 4-of-13 from the field to finish with 11 points, eight rebounds and 15 assists. Morant didn’t look like his usual, explosive self on Saturday, but after the defeat, he offered no excuses when asked about his health. “I’m almost there,” Morant said when asked about how close to full strength he is. But —- it, I’m playing. That’s not an excuse.” After scoring a total of 55 points in the first two games of the series, Morant had 27 in Games 3 and 4.
Desmond Bane stepped up in Game 4 with a career playoff-high 34 points and became the first player in franchise history to account for at least 20 points and six 3-pointers in the first half of a playoff game. Dillon Brooks scored 24 points with two rebounds and Brandon Clarke added 15 points, five rebounds and four assists off the bench.

Timberwolves vs. Grizzlies Expert Betting Prediction
This series is an exciting one. Both have two wins apiece and have a shot at winning the series. The Grizzlies still have the upper hand on paper and have home advantage, but we’ve seen how the Timberwolves operate in the past few days. Covering the spread shouldn’t be much of a problem for the visitors looking at how they performed at FedExForum last time. A win also remains in their sights despite playing in uncharted territory. The healthy lineup also means that Minnesota gets the full potential of its core lineup. Having said that, we look forward to a heated exchange between the two teams come Tuesday night.
