The Third’s the Most Charming
One could argue that Brady’s first Super Bowl win deserves massive recognition. However, the undrafted product from Michigan was still far from the elite QB he’d go on to be at that point. But alas; it only took Tom four seasons to win his third Super Bowl ring.
The second season of Brady’s back-to-back Super Bowl run from 2004 cemented him and Bill Belichick as a bonafide NFL dynasty from there on out. And although wide receiver Deion Branch won the Super Bowl MVP that season, Branch wouldn’t have won that distinction had it not been for Brady’s reliable arm and pin-point precision.
28-3
Out of all of Brady’s Super Bowl wins, none will come close to being as riveting and memorable as the Patriots’ unprecedented 25-point comeback against the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl LI.
That 34-28 overtime win over Atlanta will forever haunt the Falcons franchise until their team finally wins the big one. Brady orchestrated one scoring drive after another en route to the greatest comeback in NFL lore, His surreal pass to Julian Edelman that was bobbled for a crucial first down late in the game will also be replayed into infinity across Brady’s countless highlight reels.
The Bitter Taste from the Lost Quest for Perfection
There’s no denying that few players will ever come close to attaining the level of success that Brady has accomplished across his decades-spanning career. However, he’s also had his fair share of rock-bottom moments; none bigger than his first Super Bowl loss to the Giants in 2012.
The Patriots were about to become the first team in NFL history to go undefeated in a 16-game season, only for Eli Manning and the G-Men to spoil those plans. Brady would come back stronger than ever in the wake of that infamous lowlight of his career, winning three more rings to show Eli and his two SB wins over the Pats how it’s really done.
Tom’s Meme-worthy “High Fail”
Brady’s quite a goofball when he’s not on the field, whether he’s conscious of it or not. The internet has collected boatloads of clips of Tommy boy’s antics on the sidelines over the years, with his failed high-five attempt ranking atop our personal list of must-share Brady GIFs.
There are many more images and videos scattered across the cyber realm of Brady showing a quirkier side of his personality. And yet, this only adds to the overall affable mystique of a phenomenal and down-to-earth football player the likes that we’ve never seen before.
Championships, Ahoy!
For the better part of the 2020 NFL season, all the hype was about Brady’s move to Tampa Bay. The Buccaneers were instantly shot into title contention in the first year of the then 43-year-old at the helm of the offense despite concerns about the living legend’s age and acclimation to a totally new franchise.
As we all know, TB12 would go on to deliver yet another magical season with a Super Bowl-winning run, bagging his seventh Lombardi Trophy and fifth Super Bowl MVP award in the process. Not only will Tom’s Super Bowl victory for a different team scar the Patriots fanbase for life, but Tom would also go on in everlasting memory as the greatest to have ever played the game of football.
That being said, it will be interesting to see how the New England fans will react to Brady’s homecoming this week. The Bucs are currently (-6.5) favorites to win this Sunday, so Brady would need to put on a spectacular showing against his former team to make a Pats loss a little easier for the crowd in Foxborough to swallow.
