The NFL plays two games on Saturday this week. Both made our list of the top plays of the week. In the first, CJ Stroud leads the Houston Texans into Kansas City to take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. In the second Saturday contest, Lamar and the Ravens host Russ and the Steelers. Our top plays start on Thursday when the Broncos and Chargers throw down in a game that will go a long way in determining wild card playoff seeding. Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers

• When: Thursday, December 19th, 2024. 8:15pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: Broncos (+3) // Chargers (-3)

The Chargers are a force to be reckoned with on their home turf. Their determination to win is evident; they have the home advantage to back them up. That was a serious defense led by the awesome Derwin James Jr.

Justin Herbert has thrown just 14 touchdowns and a single pick. Still, Sean Payton and Bo Nix’s performance is reminiscent of the Payton-Brees era around 2010, sparking hope for the Broncos to secure a victory.

Houston Texans vs. Kansas City Chiefs

• When: Saturday, December 21st, 2024. 1:00pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: Texans (+115) // Chiefs (-135)

The Chiefs often win ugly. But, hey, the Super Bowl champs are winning, and the defense has been fantastic. Also, Magic Mahomes appears to be hitting his best stride.

That’s terrible news for the Texans, who must play the Chiefs a game after taking on Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins. Houston’s D will have trouble versus Mahomes and his bevy of targets, Travis Kelce, De’Andre Hopkins, Xavier Worthy, etc. Chiefs cover.

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens

• When: Saturday, December 21st, 2024. 4:30pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: Steelers (+6) // Ravens (-6)

Mike Tomlin knows how to create a defensive strategy to temper Lamar Jackson’s incredible football ability. Jackson is the best player in the NFL. He could win yet another MVP this season.

The difference, of course, is that the 2024 Ravens boast Derrick Henry. Even Big D will have trouble against Tomlin’s defense, though. Tomlin almost always wins straight up as an ATS dog.

That’s wins straight up, not cover. Steelers at +4.5 constitutes excellent value.

Philadelphia Eagles vs. Washington Commanders

• When: Sunday, December 22nd, 2024. 1:00pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: Eagles (-3) // Commanders (+3)

Jayden Daniels and the Commanders can light up the scoreboard, but the Eagles are solid on both sides. Jalen Hurts can hand the pigskin off to one of the most electrifying running backs in the NFL Sa,quon Barkley.

Hurts can throw it at DeVonta Smith and AJ Brown if that doesn’t work. The Commanders’ defense, which has been terrible in some games this season, should give Daniels and the O too much to do. The Eagles win by at least 4.

San Francisco 49ers vs. Miami Dolphins

• When: Sunday, December 15th, 2024. 4:25pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: TBA

The Fins should be way bigger favorites in this than -1.5. Tua Tagovailoa is as good as any quarterback in the league in his stadium. Also, both Jalen Waddle and Tyreek Hill have shown signs of the explosiveness that made Miami’s offense one of the best in the NFL last season.

Also, Miami’s defense has been stellar in spots. The Niners’ season is over after losing to the Rams, so don’t expect too much from SF from week 16 to week 18. The Dolphins handle San Francisco as a massive ATS overlay.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Dallas Cowboys

• When: Sunday, December 15th, 2024. 8:20pm EST
• NFL Week 16 Odds: Buccaneers (-4) // Cowboys (+4)

NFL home teams getting points is usually a great bet. Even though the Cowboys aren’t as good as Tampa Bay overall, and even worse now because of cornerback Treyvon Diggs’ injury, the Boys are at home, and Cooper Rush is playing decent ball.

Also, the Bucs’ D is a mess when stopping the pass. In addition, Rico Dowdle, the Boys’ starting RB, has been decent in recent games. Give Dallas a real shot of beating Tampa straight up.
