Why Bet on the Minnesota Vikings?

Facing a 10-point deficit at the end of three quarters, the Minnesota Vikings rallied to score 14 unanswered points to pick up a crucial 28-24 victory over division rivals the Detroit Lions in Week 3. With a 2-1 record, Minnesota keeps pace with the rest of the NFC North, with the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers also sharing a similar mark.

Quarterback Kirk Cousins came through just in time down the clutch after a sluggish start, going 24-of-41 for 260 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. But like in Week 1, the real star of the offense was running back Dalvin Cook, who finished the win over Detroit with 17 carries for 96 rushing yards and a trip to the end zone. Unfortunately, the Vikes might not have Cook suit up for Week 4’s London game, as the three-time Pro Bowl selection dislocated his shoulder late in last Sunday’s contest.

Minny’s defense is also quite perplexing. The team is currently tied for eighth in the NFL allowing just an average of 18.3 points per game, but its stop unit has also allowed an average of 413.3 yards of offense to opponents (third-worst in the league).

Why Bet on the New Orleans Saints?

Are we witnessing the return of the old, bumbling Jameis Winston? The New Orleans Saints were on the losing end of a 22-14 decision against the Carolina Panthers, who finally picked up their first win of the season and snapped a nine-game losing streak dating back to the last year’s campaign.

Winston looked like his old self with a huge outing of 353 passing yards albeit completing just 25 of 41 pass attempts with one passing TD and two interceptions. On the bright side, rookie receiver Chris Olave (nine catches, 147 receiving yards) and fellow wideout Tre’Quan Smith (four receptions, 105 yards) had great afternoons. On the other hand, all-star running back Alvin Kamara was limited to just 61 rushing yards after sitting out Week 2 with a knee issue.

The Saints have a middle-of-the-road defense that needs to step up in intensity sooner than later. The D only has four sacks through three weeks; the third-worst mark in the entire league. Cousins has been sacked more than once in a game this season on only one occasion, and that was when he took three sacks from the Eagles in Week 2, which resulted in a blowout loss for the Vikes.

Vikings vs. Saints Betting Trends

  • The Vikings are 1-4 in the last five road games (SU/ATS).
  • The Vikes and Saints are both 2-0 lifetime in London.
  • The totals went over in three of the last five games the Vikings have played away from Minneapolis.
  • The Saints are 6-3 against the Vikings since 2010 (5-4 ATS).
  • The Saints are 1-6 in the last seven outings as underdogs (2-5 ATS).
  • The totals went over in three of the last five meetings between these two teams.

Vikings vs. Saints Expert Betting Predictions

Although Minnesota is coming off a win and New Orleans is reeling, the Vikes have looked out of sync for the better part of their last two outings; not to mention the questionable status of Cook heading into the contest. The Saints do have their issues with Winston also dealing with back problems, but at least they have Kamara back and healthy to counter Minny’s running attack. Although, Cousins was one of the NFL’s unofficial ambassadors for the sport in the UK at a certain point and had stellar exhibition performances across the pond, which could give the Vikes the edge in this upcoming London showdown.
