Why Bet on the Golden State Warriors?

Stephen Curry (left foot sprain) expects to play in Game 4, “Obviously, there will be some pain, but I’ll be alright.” With 4:16 left in the game and the Warriors down by 12, Curry dove to the floor to try to secure a loose ball. He was met by Boston’s Horford, and as the two struggled to secure the possession, Horford rolled on top of Curry’s left leg. Curry remained on the floor for a few minutes, writhing in pain. He came up with a noticeable limp. Curry had 31 points with six 3-pointers in Game 3, making Boston pay every time it sagged off screens. Through the first three games, Curry has been the Warriors’ best player and the only source of consistency.

Klay Thompson had his best game of the series with 25 points, three rebounds and three assists. Thompson combined for just 26 points over the first two games of the Finals, but he bounced back to nearly match that total in Game 3. Five of his seven field goals came from beyond the arc after the sharpshooter knocked down just one triple in Game 2.

Andrew Wiggins had 18 points and seven assists, finishing with double-digit points for his ninth straight playoff contest. Wiggins is averaging 16.3 points and 6.0 rebounds through the first three games of the Finals.

Golden State is 5-0 after a loss in these playoffs. The Warriors have outscored their opponents by an average of 15.4 in those games, fifth-highest in the last 50 seasons.

Why Bet on the Boston Celtics?

These teams have now alternated wins in this series following Boston’s 116-100 victory in Game 3, improving the Celtics to 7-0 in these playoffs following a loss. While the Celtics again “lost” the third quarter, they held the Warriors only 11 fourth-quarter points. Since Jan. 23, the Celtics have gone 13-1 in games following a loss.

Having trailed for much of the night by double digits, Golden State took the lead briefly during a 14-3 third-quarter run that included a seven-point possession over the span of 13 seconds.

“I felt like our team really stayed poised in those moments,” Celtics center Al Horford said. “As you know, earlier in the year, that could have gone south quickly. But we stayed right with it and just locked in and didn’t panic and just continued to play.”

Jaylen Brown was Boston’s best player with 27 points, nine rebounds and four assists. After a lackluster Game 2, Brown came out firing from the tip-off with perhaps the best quarter of his career. He ended up with 17 points in the first quarter which set a new personal best in his playoff career and he scored or assisted on a total of 24 points in that same span.

Jayson Tatum battled through an injury in Game 3, finishing with 26 points, nine assists and six rebounds. Tatum has been struggling with a stinger in his right shoulder since the Miami series and injured it on the first drive of Game 3. He kept flexing it and looked rather uncomfortable. Brown and Tatum became the first pair of Celtics teammates in franchise history to each record 25+ points in a Finals game at age 25 or under. Marcus Smart added 24 points.

Playing through a sore knee, Robert Williams led the game in each of the three major defensive categories, corralling 10 rebounds, four blocks, and three steals. He also scored eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field and was a game-best plus-21 in his 26 minutes of action.

“Rob is really a game-changer,” Horford said. “We’re very fortunate to have a guy like that that impacts winning in the way that he does, because it’s beyond the numbers with him. It’s just all the things that he brings, being in the right places.”
