G/F Johnny Davis – Wisconsin
With Beal seemingly on his way out, the Wizards need to find an immediate replacement for their starting shooting guard. That being said, Johnny Davis out of Wisconsin has all the credentials for a rookie who could take over a franchise immediately. In his final season in college, Davis was named a consensus first-team All-American along with other individual accolades such as the Big Ten Player of the Year, Jerry West, and Lute Olson awards.
G/F Bennedict Mathurin – Arizona
Most experts have Davis and Arizona’s Bennedict Mathurin as two peas in the same top-10 draft pod with similar skill sets. Mathurin, the Pac-12 Player of the Year, was not just the biggest standout from a top-five Wildcats program this past season, but he’s also had international tournament success as well already. The Canadian swingman had a couple of 30-point outings and averaged 16.1 points per game whilst playing for the bronze medal-winning Canadian national team at the 2021 FIBA Under-19 World Cup.
C Jalen Duren – Memphis
Let’s face it: Kristaps Porzingis is not Washington’s answer at center given the Latvian’s health and hefty price tag. In turn, The Wizards will be glad to snag Memphis’ Jalen Duren should the nine teams before they pass on the second-best natural center behind Gonzaga’s Chet Holmgren. Duren has the numbers to back up his draft stock for the position, as the 2021 AAC Freshman of the Year averaged 12 points, eight boards, and two blocks per game whilst also shooting close to 60 percent from the field.
