Weber State Wildcats vs. Utah Utes Game Information

Why Bet on the Weber State Wildcats?

Head coach Jay Hill has the Weber State Wildcats on a four-year streak as Big Sky Conference champions and is in high spirits entering the 2021 college football season. All eyes will be back on returning stud running back Josh Davis, who already has 2,884 rushing yards to put him fourth all-time in Weber State’s school history.

The Wildcats have lost no more than one game against opponents from their own conference in each of their seasons over the past five years. Experts have projected them to finish atop the conference this year as well in hopes of winning an FCS national title for the very first time. However, going up against a proven Pac-12 program in Utah will be a huge test early on into the new campaign for Weber State.

Why Bet on the Utah Utes?

Like the Wildcats, the Utah Utes have been the real model of success in the Pacific with back-to-back Pac-12 titles from 2018 and 2019. However, during last year’s pandemic-shortened campaign, the Utes went just 3-2. On the bright side, they closed the season on a high note by winning their last three games.

The Utes have a total of 19 starters back on this year’s roster, which means their terrific defensive unit will still be in great shape. Their offense, on the other hand, will have a new signal-caller under center in senior quarterback Charlie Brewer. The former Baylor Bear amassed over 9,700 passing yards and 65 touchdowns across four seasons in Waco and is primed to turn Utah’s offense around for the better after beating out last year’s starter Cameron Rising for the job. Couple Brewer’s fantastic form in training camp and an offensive line with all five starters intact and the Utes could be in for an offensive surge in 2021.

Weber State vs. Utah Betting Trends

  • The Wildcats went 5-0 in conference play last season.
  • The Wildcats are 2-2 in their last four regular-season games against opponents outside their conference.
  • The Wildcats are 7-5 in Division I FCS playoffs action since 2017.
  • The Utes are 5-0 in their last five games against Weber State.
  • The Utes are 3-0 in their last three games versus teams from the Big Sky.
  • The totals have gone over in three of the Utes’ last four regular-season home games.

Weber State vs. Utah Expert Betting Predictions

History would have it that the Utes are in for a convincing victory to start their 2021 campaign against a Weber State program that they’ve dominated over the years. This includes a 41-10 rout over the Wildcats during their last meeting back in 2018. On the other hand, Weber State does have the potential to surprise thanks to a strong running game that could give Utah’s vaunted defense a run for its money. That being said, covering a huge spread is not an impossible task for these feisty Wildcats.
