What’s Next For Daniel Ricciardo?
Following months of rumors, McLaren announced before the second half of the 2022 season that Ricciardo would be departing the team by November. The Aussie driver’s career has dipped since leaving Red Bull. He had an underwhelming year with Renault followed by two more years of disappointment with McLaren–save for his 2021 victory in Monza.
With three more months of racing, will the 33-year-old secure a contract before next season? What’s next for Daniel Ricciardo at this point? Nitrobetting checks out several possibilities for the man from Perth.

Haas link up
Haas team principal Guenther Steiner keeps his options open as he decides who races alongside Kevin Magnussen in 2023. The Danish driver re-signed with the American team at the start of the year. He pulled off a strong return to the sport having initially been released at the end of 2020. The 29-year-old replaced Nikita Mezepin, who was let go ahead of the 2022 campaign amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
Mick Schumacher scored his first-ever championship points at Silverstone this year, before logging a career-best P6 in Australia. However, his recent improvements have not been enough to secure a drive next year, leaving Magnussen the only driver Haas signed on for 2023. Moreover, Steiner was reported to have reached out to Ricciardo amid his forthcoming exit from the British team.
A return to Alpine
Ricciardo has been associated with a return to his former team Alpine. Team boss Otmar Szafnauer mentioned that he is open to giving the Australian another shot. After an interview, the former Red Bull driver refused to rule out a return to the French team. His time with the team initially ended on a good note with slight hints of struggles.
In an interview, the 2021 Italian Grand Prix winner said that “Time will tell. We’ll see. We’ll see what feels right, and is right, but it’s purely going to be where I feel like it’d be the most competitive.
American motorsport career
Daniel’s affinity for all things American leads some to believe that he has a career waiting for him in NASCAR or IndyCar. With F1 Champion Kimi Raikkonen launching his American motorsport career with Trackhouse Racing Team, we expect the sport to welcome drivers from various disciplines to come. Fans predicted that Ricciardo could be a part of Trackhouse Racing Project in 2023 should he fail to secure a seat in Formula 1 next season.
However, there is no official confirmation regarding this project. Fans seeking answers to what’s next for Daniel Ricciardo will have to wait. Will the Italian-Australian driver make his announcement to retire from F1 and move on to a different trajectory? Only time will tell.
