Why the Miami Heat Will Win the 2023 NBA Finals

By Jeff Stinger

Although the Miami Heat recently failed to complete their sweep of the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference Finals, chances are still high that they’re bound to the NBA Finals. No NBA team has ever bounced back from a 3-0 series deficit, which puts the Heat in control of their destiny. Exactly what makes the 2022-23 Miami Heat such an inspirational bunch worth cheering for?

Nitrobetting is ready to dish out key assists and lob passes with betting tips and news coverage throughout the 2023 NBA Playoffs. This time, let’s highlight the three main reasons why the Miami Heat will win the 2023 NBA Finals and ultimately secure the franchise’s fourth NBA title.

3 Reasons Why the Miami Heat Will Win the 2023 NBA Finals

A Heat-storic Playoff Run for the Ages

It looked bleak early on for Miami, which needed to win their second play-in game against the Chicago Bulls before making the East’s playoff bracket proper. Even still, the team had to enter the postseason as the No. 8 seed taking on the best team during the regular season, the Milwaukee Bucks. However, that’s when a fire was lit under the Heat for them to go on an unheard-of playoff run.

Miami staged arguably the biggest upset in NBA postseason history by beating the top-seeded Bucks in just five games. Then, the Heat won their second-round series against the New York Knicks in relatively convincing fashion in six games before jumping out to a commanding 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics stayed alive with a win in Game 4 Tuesday, but the Heat have three more opportunities to close out the series and become the first eighth-seeded team to reach the NBA Finals.

Butler Serving the Coldest of Dishes

The legend of playoff-form Jimmy Butler is in full effect as we speak, and it’s the six-time All-Star who’s been the main catalyst to the Heat’s success this postseason by far. Butler is averaging 30 points, six rebounds, and five assists per game on 51.1-percent shooting from the field, knocking down one clutch shot after another. He erupted for a 56-point masterclass in Game 4 against Milwaukee (a new single-game franchise record for Miami), followed by a 42-point clinic in Game 5 to send the Bucks packing in the first round.

Butler’s inspirational performances this postseason have turned scrappy Miami into a pleasant surprise you can’t help but cheer for. However, there’s more to the Heat’s current squad that makes them such a rootable bunch of underdogs. This leads us to…

Undrafted and Undeterred

Outside of Butler’s prowess, the media has constantly painted the narrative that the Heat’s core of young, undrafted upstarts is what makes their run all the more magical. Four undrafted Miami players have stepped up to the task this postseason: Caleb Martin, Gabe Vincent, Max Strus, and Duncan Robinson.

Martin is averaging 12.6 points off the bench this postseason, including a 25-point outing in the Game 3 win over the Celtics. Vincent got his own moment to shine as well in Game 4 with a team-high 29 points. Meanwhile, Robinson and Strus have been lighting it up from deep as well, with each of these sharpshooters draining eight three-pointers apiece in the Conference Finals thus far.

Miami may have what many consider as leftovers from the deep pool of NBA prospects, but they’re led by a true team leader in Butler who’s gotten these undrafted talents on the same page and playing just as well as their superstar counterparts on the court. As such, the Heat, who’d recently made the NBA Finals in 2020, could actually have the edge in experience in their impending meeting against NBA Finals debutantes, the Denver Nuggets.
