Will Tiger Woods Play In The 2022 Open Championship?
Tiger Woods tees up after missing the U.S. Open. He did enough to make the cut at both the Masters and PGA Championship. However, we’ve seen the veteran player struggle to keep his form consistent over a four-day competition. His severely damaged leg is a determinant of his overall performance in The Open Championship 2022.
The reason behind Woods taking a pass on the U.S. Open is to rack up more recovery time for his injured leg. The 46-year-old said, “The plan was to play the U.S. Open but physically I was not able to do that”. He added, “There’s no way physically I could have done that. I had some issues with my leg and it would have put this tournament in jeopardy and so there’s no reason to do that.”
It’s also likely that this is Woods’ last competitive tournament at the Old Course. The Open Championship’s revamped schedule leaves the UK course out of its calendar for at least four years. By that time, Woods will be 51 years old and possibly retired.
Is Tiger Woods going to play at the 2022 Open Championship?

Tiger Woods’ 2022 performance
Despite a serious leg injury that almost cost Tiger Woods his right leg 14 months ago in a car crash, his greatest comeback continues in the 2022 season. He made an incredible comeback in the opening round of the Masters.
Woods’ presence was greatly appreciated by the gallery. He remained composed and looked like his old self as he defied the odds on many occasions. The long-serving player always found a way to recover.
It was a solid round on his return, featuring a tap-in birdie at No. 6 while keeping 1 -under par after another birdie at the 13th, just two strokes behind the lead by mid-afternoon. He then followed things up with five straight pars and missed a birdie at the challenging No. 5 hole.
Ultimately, after 508 days without playing competitive golf, Tiger Woods ranks with the front-runners of The Open Championship. There’s not much data to look at, but we know that Woods has a way of finding his stride back.
