Mexican Liga BBVA MX

The Liga MX, also known as Liga BBVA MX, is the top professional soccer league in Mexico. It is considered as the strongest league in Latin America and currently ranks as 20th in the world, according to the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

Created in 1943, the league has 18 teams, with plans of adding 2 more in the near future. It has two seasonal tournaments, Apertura (starts in the summer) and Clausura (starts in the winter). The top four teams at the end of the season meet in a playoff, while the following eight determine the final four spots available in the playoffs. Of the 56 teams to have played in the league, only ten teams have won it. Those teams are America (13), Guadalajara (12), Toluca (10), Cruz Azul (8), León (7), UANL (7), UNAM (7), Pachuca (6), Santos Laguna (6), Monterrey (5), among others.
