Why Bet on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers?

After going on a four-game tear, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers met their match in Week 8 when they faced division rivals the New Orleans Saints. Tampa Bay had its win streak snapped with the Saints’ 36-27 win and the team is now coming off its Week 9 bye just one game ahead of New Orleans for the NFC South lead.

Tom Brady finished with four touchdown passes for the fourth time this season during that loss, completing 28 of 40 pass attempts for 375 yards. However, the future Hall-of-Famer did also commit three turnovers (two interceptions and a lost fumble) that ultimately led to his team’s demise. Regardless, the Bucs still rank first in the NFL with an average of 32.5 points per game and third overall with 423.1 average yards per contest.

On the other hand, the Buccaneers’ scoring defense has just been middle-of-the-pack, ranking 13th in the league (22.9 PAPG). It’s a good thing that they’ll be facing a Washington side that has been far from competitive for a month now.

Why Bet on the Washington Football Team?

Make that four consecutive losses for the Washington Football Team, who were just short of upending the Denver Broncos in Mile High in Week 8, 17-10. Washington’s disappointing 2021 campaign surely needed the scheduled bye this past week more so than the Buccaneers, as head coach Ron Rivera has got to figure out how to bounce back and prove that their solid 2020 campaign was no fluke.

Taylor Heinicke remains a liability under center, as the Old Dominion product threw his eighth and ninth interceptions of the season in Week 8. Heinicke went 24-of-39 for 270 passing yards and a single TD pass, as the Football Team converted just five of their 14 third-downs. It’s a Antonio Gibson puts up just 34 rushing yards on eight carries for a team that needs to add a new dimension to their offense apart from forcing the ball to top wideout Terry McLaurin. McLaurin hauled in just three of seven targets for 23 receiving yards during the loss.

As a silver lining, Washington actually outgained the Broncos in total yardage, 342-273, and the WFT also held its first opponent this season to under 20 points. But will that be enough against a frighteningly potent Tampa Bay offense this Sunday? Washington’s bottom-five defense will likely be in for a long afternoon if the team hasn’t made significant changes after their own break.

Buccaneers vs. Washington Betting Trends

  • The Buccaneers are just 2-2 on the road this season without a single win against the spread.
  • The Bucs are just 1-3 against Washington since 2012 (2-2 ATS).
  • The totals went over in six of Tampa Bay’s regular-season games this calendar year.
  • Washington is just 1-5 in its last six home games (2-4 ATS).
  • The WFT is winless in each of the last six games that the team was an underdog by seven or more points (SU/ATS).
  • The totals went under in four of the last six games played in FedEx Field.

Buccaneers vs. Washington Expert Betting Predictions

The odds are certainly stacked against Washington this week despite having home-field advantage. Although, the Buccaneers did just lose their last contest and that both teams are well-rested coming off their respective byes. And if the upset spree from Week 9 tells us something, it’s that even the WFT is a solid case for a mediocre team that can also win on any given Sunday.
