Watch Out for These Favorites
Daniel Berger
- 2021 Honda Classic Odds: +1000
Berger is having a solid season so far. He has made the cut nine times in 10 starts, with four top 10s and six top 25s. He’s already secured a win after topping the field in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am back in February, and he’s also coming off a T9 at The PLAYERS Championship.
With that kind of momentum, Berger will be a man to watch on the golf course this week. That’s not to mention that he’s finished inside the top 5 twice at the Honda Classic since 2015. He debuted there in 2015 and finished solo second and was solo fourth in last year’s edition of this tournament.
Sungjae Im
- 2021 Honda Classic Odds: +1200
Im has played in 16 tournaments so far this season and managed to make the cut in all but one of them. But what makes him among the favorites to win the 2021 Honda Classic is the fact that he’s actually won it before.
Im pocketed $1.26 million last year by winning the 2020 Honda Classic, scoring a 66 in the second and fourth rounds. Im’s best finishes this season were a T2 at the Masters and a T5 at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
Don’t Sleep on Them
Matt Wallace
- 2021 Honda Classic Odds: +6000
Wallace has played in only five PGA TOUR events this season, but had a respectable T18 at the Arnold Palmer Invitational after getting cut at the Puerto Rico Open. Speaking of decent, Wallace finished 20th at the 2020 Honda Classicthough he was cut the following year in the same event. He’s still not bad as a sleeper pick.
Talor Gooch
- 2021 Honda Classic Odds: +3000
Gooch is another player who could still be hot this week after finishing with a T5 at THE PLAYERS Championship. He’s also had some other impressive performances scattered this season. Take his top-five finishes at THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK and at the Vivint Houston Open.

Expert’s Prediction for the 2021 The Honda Classic Tournament
There has only been one player in the history of the 2021 Honda Classic who’s won this tournament in back-to-back fashion, and that’s Jack Nicklaus. While it’s truly a rare case, Sungjae Im winning it again this year shouldn’t be viewed as something that’s unlikely to happen. For one, he’s the favorite to win and defend his title at the Honda Classic. Then again, there are 18 major champions on the field, so Im will be facing a strong field, to say the least.
