Novak Djokovic Betting Background

Novak Djokovic is barging into the quarterfinals round of the 2021 Australian Open after defeating Milos Raonic in the fourth round in four sets, via a 7-6 (7-4), 4-6, 6-1, 6-4 score. In the process, Djokovic has become just the second man in tennis grand slam history to win at least 300 matches. Djokovic stepped on the hardcourt against Raonic on the heels of a 7-6 (7-1), 6-4, 3-6, 4-6, 6-2 win over Taylor Fritz in the third round, which took longer than most people expected. The Serbian appeared to be not in his 100% form when he battled Fritz, as Djokovic reportedly had to contend with an upper-body issue, but any lingering concern about it should have already been squashed after his impressive win over Raonic.

Novak Djokovic Betting Trends

  • Djokovic has reached the semifinals of the Australian Open seven times since 2011.

Alexander Zverev Betting Background

Zverev has not dropped a set since losing the first set of his matchup in the first round against Marcos Giron. Lajovic struggled mightily against the power of Zverev. The 23-year-0ld German had 15 aces to just one by Lajovic. As of this writing, Zverev is fourth among all players in the men’s singles field in terms of aces with 65. Last year, Zverev reached the semifinals of the 2020 Australian Open where he got stopped in his tracks by Dominic Thiem in a 3-6 6-4 7-6(3) 7-6(4) loss.

Alexander Zverev Betting Trends

  • Zverev is 151-80 on ATP Tour and grand slam hardcourt matches in his career.
  • Zverev is 27-37 all-time in ATP Tour and grand slam hardcourt matches against top-10 ranked players.

Novak Djokovic vs. Alexander Zverev Prediction

Djokovic is understandably the favorite to win this match. After all, he’s won five times in seven head-to-head showdowns with Zverev. However, the fact that Zverev has pulled off two wins against one of the greatest players in the history of the game says a lot about why it’s not that easy to dismiss his chances against the Serbian. Expect this match to go at least four sets.
