2021 NASCAR Championship Odds (January)

By Hank Blaine

It’s been over a two month since the 2020 NASCAR season ended, with Chase Elliot winning the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. And, even though he won, he is not the top choice in the odds to win the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series Championship. But there’s good reason for that.

The Favorite

The top pick in the 2021 NASCAR Championship odds is Kevin Harvick, who stands at +500. The reason for that is due to his performance all season long. He pretty much led the Cup Series standings for the majority of the 2020 season. He won nine victories, but then he fell short of the Round of 4 in the Season Finales 500. This set the tone for the current champion.

Second in Line

The defending champion, Chase Elliot (+800), won five times this year. Comparing his stats with the current favorite, it seems it will be a bit different. Still, much can change for the champ if he starts off strong and keeps it that way. He won’t give up the fight that easily, especially if he wants to go two in a row.

The Others

Let’s take a quick look at the other contenders for next season. There are veterans looking to take the thrown and who are also tight in the NASCAR odds as well, at +800, same as Chase Elliot. Kyle Busch, a two-time champion, is one that is definitely looking to be part of the three timers club. After having won back in 2015 and 2019, it’s no wonder he will be a top contender next year. In the 2020 season, posted 14 Top-5 finishes.

Another who posted 14 Top-5 finishes this season is Martin Truex Jr, finishing 7th in 2020 season. He also has one championship under his belt, winning it back in 2017.

Next up is Joey Logano, also a former champion, who won back in 2018. This season, he ginished third place overall, winning three races. Right next to him is Brad Keselowski, another former champion who won in 2012. It’s been a while since he held the title, but this season was real good for him. He’s the overall runner-up, and a 4 time winner on the circuit.

Lastly, there’s Denny Hamlin. His 2020 season was really good. He spent the majority of the season in the Top 2 of the overall standings and won a second-best seven races. He doesn’t have any championships yet, but the hunger is definitely there. Do keep an eye out for this guy.
