Quarterback
Tyrod Taylor – Houston Texans
- Pct. Owned: 26.5%
There’s no denying that the Texans are one of the worst teams in the league. However, veteran quarterback Tyrod Taylor is keeping Houston afloat and is actually a serviceable streaming QB for fantasy when healthy.
Taylor is coming off a two-touchdown performance against the Jets for his second multi-TD game of the campaign. In four full starts this season, the 10th-year journeyman is averaging 18 points per game. That’s a decent floor for managers needing a plug-and-play QB in Week 13 without much risk of a dud game and even with the Texans as (+7) underdogs against the Colts this coming weekend.
Running Back
Alexander Mattison – Minnesota Vikings
- Pct. Owned: 33.6%
The Vikings are too familiar with losing stud running back Dalvin Cook mid-season, and that’s certainly the case again after Cook suffered another scary injury this past week. In turn, managers will be rushing to pick up backup Alexander Mattison once more.
Mattison is available in about two-thirds of fantasy leagues and is a prime handcuff that should not be left unsigned on the free market. The 23-year-old out of Boise State found the end zone against the Niners on Sunday to pick up the Vikings’ rushing slack. He also has a couple of 20-plus-point outings this season in PPR formats, giving him massive boom potential in a favorable matchup against the Lions in Week 13 with the Vikes currently pegged as (-7) road favorites.
Dontrell Hilliard – Tennessee Titans
- Pct. Owned: 23.9%
With Tennessee’s offensive weapons dropping like flies, the rushing tandem of D’Onta Foreman and Dontrell Hilliard have done a fantastic job collectively filling in the void left by Derrick Henry. That goes without saying that Hilliard has looked like the lead back between the two, as the undrafted third-year player out of Tulane had another terrific performance.
Hilliard gashed a stout New England front seven for 131 rushing yards and a touchdown on just 12 carries. He now has over 200 yards from scrimmage in just two starts with no less than 15 fantasy points in PPR leagues in each of those games, making him another must-add from the waivers this week.
Wide Receiver
Russell Gage – Atlanta Falcons
- Pct. Owned: 38.1%
Atlanta’s offense still revolves around Comeback Player of the Year candidate Cordarrelle Patterson, but Russell Gage appears to still be highly involved in the passing game compared to his peers.
Gage found the end zone for the second time this season and hauled in six of seven targets for 62 receiving yards. The former LSU standout has seen no less than six targets in five of his last six starts and is clearly the Falcons’ top wide receiver option in the passing game for as long as Calvin Ridley remains sidelined due to his mental health issues.
Kendrick Bourne – New England Patriots
- Pct. Owned: 15.2%
Perhaps the most overlooked receiving talent this fantasy season is New England’s Kendrick Bourne, who’s quietly having a blockbuster season for a Pats team not really praised for its rather conservative aerial attack. Bourne is hot off his first multi-TD game of the season, making a couple of dazzling scoring catches in the process against the Titans’ secondary this past Sunday.
Since Week 3, Bourne has three games of 20 or more fantasy points in full-PPR leagues and six double-digit fantasy outings over the last 10. Furthermore, the former San Francisco 49er leads all New England wideouts with his five TD catches this season, with Nelson Agholor being the only other wide receiver with more than one touchdown reception (three).
Tight End
Foster Moreau – Las Vegas Raiders
- Pct. Owned: 0.6%
The pool of available tight ends remains as shallow as ever, but maybe Vegas’ Foster Moreau could provide huge upside as a speculative pickup for Week 13. All-star tight end Darren Waller suffered a knee injury against Dallas on Sunday and could miss the next game against Washington with the Raiders likely not wanting to risk further harm to their best receiving threat.
In turn, Moreau should be a nice flex option or a TE filler for the upcoming week. When Waller had to miss time due to injury in Week 7 against the Eagles, Moreau caught all six of his targets for 60 yards and a score. Knowing that Derek Carr has an affinity for tight ends, Moreau packs boom potential in Week 13 for as long as Waller is indeed expect to sit out the next game in Sin City.
