2021 NASCAR Bass Pro Shops Night Race

Hendrick Motorsports took two of the top three placings. Kyle Larson won and William Byron finished third. Kevin Harvick sandwiched in between Larson and Byron to grab second place. Fourth place went to Ryan Blaney. Another Hendrick driver, Alex Bowman, picked up fifth. Denny Hamlin, this year’s favorite, finished eleventh in last year’s event.

Kyle Larson has time to leap into the final four on the NASCAR Cup standings. Kyle would rather leap into the top four sooner rather than later. Last year’s Bass Pro Shop Night Race winner finished a decent eighth in Kansas last week. The eighth place finish is four spots better than Kyle’s twelfth at Darlington.

Larson is moving up. He’ll improve upon the eight place finish on Saturday. The question is by how much? Considering he won this last year, Kyle’s a good bet to cross the finish line first.

Second Top Choice to Win the 2022 Bass Pros Shop Night Race

Denny Hamlin’s eleventh place finish at Kansas dropped him a spot on the Cup standings. Hamlin never led a lap, which is why Christopher Bell, the Cup standings leader, got more points than Denny.

Hamlin has to feel the Cup slipping away from him. But Bell is a teammate. So Denny won’t do anything to disrupt that one’s chances. However, Bell finished twenty-ninth in this last year. When it comes to the Gibbs drivers, Hamlin is the better pick over Bell.

Third Top Choice to Win the 2022 Bass Pros Shop Night Race

This past week, Kyle Busch said he won’t race for Joe Gibbs next year. One of the reasons Busch is looking for a new team is because he knows how much Gibbs is investing into Christopher Bell.

The 28 year old with the 14 year old looking face has blossomed into Gibbs’ best shot at winning this year’s Cup. Bell finished fifth at Darlington and third at Kansas.

Christopher knows he doesn’t have to win as long as none of his top competitors, Hamlin, Byron, Logano, etc., also don’t win, which is why Bell is our third choice. Christopher is aiming for the Cup, not a win at Bristol.

Top Underdog Choice to Win the 2022 Bass Pro Shop Night Race

Alex Bowman is one of those under the radar Hendrick drivers who has a real shot to grab a checkered flag on Saturday evening. Alex finished fifth in this last year.

Bowman finished fourth at Kansas and tenth at Darlington. If he continues on his upward trajectory, he’s one of the few that can land in the winner’s circle. Also, let’s not forget that Erik Jones and Bubba Wallace won the last couple of playoff races. If the underdog trend holds, who knows? Bowman might be the dog that takes the checkered flag.
