Top Pick to Win 2022 Heisman Trophy

The redshirt sophomore chalk is ridiculously talented, but talent alone isn’t the reason to back the favorite. CJ Stroud plays behind an offensive line that includes a senior right guard and senior right tackle.

Many consider left tackle Paris Johnson Jr. the best offensive lineman in college football. Wide receivers Marvin Harrison Jr., Julian Fleming, and junior Jaxon Smith-Njigba makes for the top receiving trio in the nation.

Stroud should have an unbelievable season. The chalk looks tough to beat for the Heisman Trophy.

Second Top Pick to Win 2022 Heisman Trophy

Caleb Williams took over for Spencer Rattler at Oklahoma last season because then Sooners coach Lincoln Riley realized how good Williams is. It was only natural for Lincoln to recruit Caleb to transfer from Oklahoma to USC after Riley accepted the job in SoCal.

USC plays a relatively easy schedule. The two toughest games are at Utah and versus Notre Dame, which means Caleb will have plenty of opportunities to show off his incredible quarterbacking skills.

Also, Riley convinced last year’s Biletnikoff winning wide receiver Jordan Addison to enroll at USC. Williams already has his go-to receiver. The offensive line is good. Expect Caleb to challenge Stroud for the Heisman.

Third Top Pick to Win 2022 Heisman Trophy

Young can repeat the Heisman win. The Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback should have a similar season from the one that won him the hardware. The difference between the 2022 season and the 2021 season, though, is that Bryce must throw to unproven wide receivers.

In 2021, Young tossed the pigskin to John Metchie III and Jameson Williams. Both those guys are in the NFL. We don’t know if Jermain Burton, Ja’Corey Brooks, and Tyler Harrell will be as effective.

Also, running back Jahmyr Gibbs is a beast. So the Tide figure to run the ball more this season than they did last season.

Top Underdog Pick to Win 2022 Heisman Trophy

If the top three choices falter, or if they don’t post numbers comparable to Young’s from last season, Heisman voters may go for a defensive player. Michigan DE Aidan Hutchinson finished second in Heisman voting last season.

Alabama linebacker Will Anderson should post Hutchinson type stats in 2022. Anderson is the most talented linebacker to come around in a long time. Will has expressed his desire to win the Heisman. Coach Nick Saban will put Anderson into positions to excel. Bama’s best defensive player has a better shot of winning the Heisman than the +2000 odds indicate.
