Zozos

  • 2022 Kentucky Derby Odds: +2500

Local Louisville trainer Brad Cox is coming off a superb 2021, having won the Kentucky Derby with Mandaloun and the Belmont Stakes with Essential Quality for his first two Triple Crown victories. Cox now has Zozos as his top prize at Churchill Downs, with the three-year-old colt having won his first three races and coming in second at the Louisiana Derby as its latest performance. Few horses have the successful backing of Cox and a terrific start to their career than what Zozos has right now.

Tiz the Bomb

  • 2022 Kentucky Derby Odds: +2800

With five wins over its first eight races and two first-place finishes in its last couple of outings, Tiz the Bomb has slowly gotten more backers leading up to Saturday’s main event. However, it’s worth noting that the Spendthrift Farm-bred colt has gotten most of its success on artificial turfs and not on dirt courses. Churchill Downs might pose as a challenge for the latest Tiz-named thoroughbred, but an earlier win on a dirt track and momentum over the last two races have horse-racing fans high on the latest Kenneth McPeek product.

Pioneer of Medina

  • 2022 Kentucky Derby Odds: +3300

Being a colt trained by none other than legendary horse whisperer Todd Pletcher, Pioneer of Medina deserves more recognition. With two wins and five podium finishes in six career races, the son of Pioneer of the Nile and Light of Medina has that sleeper potential with much better value considering the backing of Pletcher’s decorated camp that has won two runnings of the Kentucky Derby and three at the Belmont Stakes.
