By Carlos Chacon

Baseball fans are eager to find out whether or not New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso will become the first player in MLB history to win three consecutive Home Run Derby titles. Juan Soto

  • 2022 MLB Home Run Derby Odds: +550

23-year-old phenom Juan Soto has almost done it all in the big leagues. The Washington Nationals outfielder has won a World Series, a batting title in 2020, and is a two-time All-Star and a two-time Silver Slugger. However, he’s yet to win the Home Run Derby and will take a second shot at the event this week in Dodger Stadium. Soto hit the deepest homer in the history of the derby with his 520-foot blast from last year before falling to eventual champion Pete Alonso in the second round.

Julio Rodriguez

  • 2022 MLB Home Run Derby Odds: +800

Perhaps the biggest wild card of the bunch at the 2022 Home Run Derby is Seattle Mariners rookie Julio Rodriguez, whose stellar play in his maiden MLB campaign has carried the M’s to an astounding 14-game win streak heading into the Midsummer Classic. As a five-tool prospect, Rodriguez has sneaky strength as evident in his 16 home runs this season. He was also recently caught on tape practicing for the derby and hit a staggering 37 long balls in four minutes to give his backers plenty of dark horse potential to dethrone Alonso from his lofty Home Run Derby perch.

Corey Seager

  • 2022 MLB Home Run Derby Odds: +1000

In a battle of first-time derby participants, former World Series MVP Corey Seager will go up against the aforementioned Rodriguez in the first round of the 2022 Home Run Derby. Seager has been hitting well in his first year as a Texas Ranger with 22 home runs and an .804 OPS to date. Although 28-year-old veteran isn’t as trendy a pick as some of the other younger stars at the event, there’s no doubt that Seager will have plenty of fans cheering him on from the crowd at Dodger Stadium, where he was instrumental in capturing a World Series for the Dodgers in 2020.
