2022 MLS Cup Final Sleepers

By Jeff Stinger

The playoff picture for the 2022 Major League Soccer Cup Final begins to take shape as we approach October. Let’s take a look at commonly overlooked picks of the 28 clubs between the Eastern and the Western Conferences. Nitrobetting probes into the 2022 MLS Cup Final sleepers down below.

2022 MLS Cup Final Sleepers

Inter Miami CF

  • 2022 MLS odds: +4,000

Miami is a relatively young club compared to the old timers of the MLS. Nevertheless, the team has shown plenty of potential since its inception. Club co-owner David Beckham hopes to inject some of his professional experience to make the club constant playoff contenders.

In 25 matches, the team scored 32 goals and allowed 42 goals, forming an average of 1.28 goals and 1.64 goals against per game, respectively. They feature a firm 7-3-3 home stats but give up plenty of points on the road with a 2-3-7 record. If they can deliver better numbers in the coming weeks, there are good chances that we see Miami back in the playoff picture and fighting for the MLS Cup as capable sleeper picks.

FC Cincinnati

  • 2022 MLS odds: +5,000

The race for the last three playoff slots is tight in the Eastern Conference. Among the teams fighting for a postseason ticket is Cincinnati, who currently holds ninth place, tied with Inter Miami (eighth) and Orlando City (seventh). They have several weeks to strengthen their playoff bid, and we expect heated skirmishes coming from the side.

FC Cincinnati features a balanced home and away record. The team is 4-5-4 at home and 4-4-4 on the road. They produced 42 goals and allowed 45 goals in 25 matches played. If Pat Noonan can get more traction in the latter half of the season, there’s good reason to believe that the Orange and Blue are headed to the playoffs for a shot at the MLS Cup Final as sleeper picks.

Vancouver Whitecaps

  • 2022 MLS odds: +5,000

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is one of the few Canadian teams in the MLS that remain competitive. As of this writing, the team produced results good enough for a playoff spot. To keep postseason hopes alive and kicking, the club needs to do well in their eight remaining games.

Team manager Marc Dos Santos holds a solid home record of 7-3-3 but needs to do better when playing in uncharted territory. The Whitecaps have a 2-3-8 away record. Moreover, the side averages 1.19 goals per game and has netted 31 goals so far this season. But, they have to do better at protecting their goal with 45 goals against this season for an average of 1.73 per game.

Real Salt Lake

  • 2022 MLS odds: +5,000

After barely making it to the playoffs in 2021, Real Salt Lake is having a significantly better season up to this point. The club holds a 7-3-2 home record good for 24 points and a fair road record of 3-4-6 and 13 points. These numbers are good enough for a comfortable fifth place in the Western Conference. If RSL continues this pace, there’s a good chance that we see the squad deliver competitive matches in the playoffs. With 33 goals and an average of 1.32 goals per game, Claret and Cobalt are sensible 2022 MLS Cup Final sleepers.
