2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Top Pick

The Orlando Magic are a horror show of a team. But we can’t blame their point guard. The Orlando Magic’s first-round pick in 2020 has been anything but a draft bust. Cole Anthony, son of legendary UNLV point guard Greg Anthony, averages 17.8 points, 5.8 boards, and 6 assists. He also has hops for days and has the right attitude to win a contest that rewards showmanship.

Anthony is a successful NBA player, something most of competitors can’t say they are. That alone gives him a massive mental edge. Expect Cole to take home the trophy.

2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Second Top Pick

Obi Toppin finished second behind Portland Trail Blazer Anfernee Simons in last season’s Slam Dunk Competition. Toppin bounced the ball between his legs and did a reverse dunk, leapt over teammate Julius Randle and his dad for a dunk, and then went through his legs again on his final dunk attempt.

Toppin is recognized as one of the most prolific dunkers in the league. He also played at Dayton, a 3-hour drive from Cleveland, which means he could have the crowd behind him.

2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Third Top Pick

The 28-year-old played in the Mexican League and the G-League before finally catching on with the Warriors last season. His stats aren’t impressive, 4.8 points, 2.6 boards, and 1.9 assists per, but Juan Toscano-Anderson has faced adversity and is older than his fellow contestants. Those two things gives him an advantage.

Also, the Golden State Warrior is a power dunker. The rest of the dunkers in the competition are about finesse and gliding to the hoop. Toscano-Anderson will shake the building with his dunks. Who knows? The judges might be in the mood for power dunking on Saturday night.

2022 NBA Slam Dunk Contest Fourth Top Pick

The second pick in last year’s NBA Draft isn’t having a great season. Jalen Green averages a decent amount of points, over 14, but he shoots less than 39% from the field and less than 30% from three.

The shooting guard averages just 2.4 assists and 3.3 boards. So unless he picks it up on the shooting end, his NBA career may not last long, which is one of the reasons we pick him fourth.

Yes, Green has the ability to wow with dunks. But his confidence can’t be where it was before playing in the NBA. So our guess is that he second guesses himself enough to fall flat in the first round.
