2022 NBA Three Point Contest Top Pick
We’re not in love with the idea of backing chalk, but there’s a reason Bane is the favorite over Luke Kennard and Trae Young. Desmond Bane shoots an incredible 41.5% from three. On Feb. 10, he hit 3-of-4 from downtown in a win against the Detroit Pistons. Bane followed up that performance by making of 4-of-7, shooting 57%, in a win over the Charlotte Hornets. Nobody’s in your face in the three-point contest. So the chalk could go off with a huge night.
2022 NBA Three Point Contest Second Top Pick
Trae Young has a real chance to win this. The over 27 points per game superstar is shooting better than he ever has from behind the arc. Young makes over 37% of his three-point attempts. So if Bane is off, Trae should be there to pick up the pieces. The only real knock is that once in a while Young goes cold, he hit 4-of-12 against the Celtics in a Feb. 13 loss. But going cold can happen to any of the participants.
2022 NBA Three Point Contest Third Top Pick
Zach LaVine is headed to Los Angeles to see a specialist about his knee. It’s doubtful LaVine gets the all clear to participate in this event. If LaVine had been a go, he’d probably be our pick to finish third. With LaVine out, we’ll make one of the best big men in the league our third choice, Karl-Anthony Towns.
The Minnesota Timberwolves star has shot 39.5% from three in Minnesota’s last 10 games. This season, he’s shooting 40.8% from behind the arc. The knock is that he doesn’t shoot a ton of threes. So the thinking is that Young and Bane get into a rhythm while Towns doesn’t. But if you don’t buy into that way of thinking, give Towns a shot to win the three-point title.
2022 NBA Three Point Contest Fourth Top Pick
Although he’s our fourth pick, Fred VanVleet has a real chance to win the three point contest. Heading into the week, VanVleet is on fire, making 43.5% of his three-point shots. This season VanVleet is making 40%. So he won’t tail off much once the hot streak ends. Put the Toronto Raptors point-guard on the long list of Three Point Contest contenders.
