Minnesota Timberwolves vs. New York Knicks

Minnesota must pick it up to get back into playoff contention. Heading into the week, the T’Wolves are 21-22. But although Minnesota doesn’t have a winning record, they could be on the verge of a nice streak. In their last on Jan. 16, the Timberwolves upset Golden State 119-99. That gives Minnesota a chance. The Knicks, though, have won 5-of-6. NYK covered in all 5 wins. This happens in the Garden. So we must side with the Knicks to win and cover.

Los Angeles Clippers vs. Denver Nuggets

Neither team is in their best form. As of Jan. 16, the Nuggets are barely over .500 while the Clippers are a couple of games under .500 at 21-23. LAC is finding it difficult to compete without both Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. Denver has struggled because Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. remain out of action.
The Nuggets do have Nikola Jokic, though. Also, before a 102-125 loss to Utah on Jan. 16, Denver had beaten Portland and the Lakers in back-to-back wins. Don’t expect a repeat of the Clippers’ 87-85 win on Jan. 11. Nuggets take the victory SU and ATS.

The week’s top matchup pits two of the Eastern Conference’s best. On Jan. 12, the Bulls fell back to earth in a stunning 112-138 loss to Brooklyn. Golden State kicked Chicago while the Bulls were down in a 96-138 Chicago loss before Boston continued Chicago’s slide with a 114-112 victory. Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine might both be out for this. If that happens, the Bulls could end up an overlay against the spread. Consider backing Chicago if Milwaukee offers too many points.

The 2020 Orlando Bubble final between the Lakers and the Heat is one of Sunday’s most high-profile matchups. It probably shouldn’t be considering the Lakers have lost 3 straight before their Monday contest versus the Jazz and are a game under .500. Magic called out Los Angeles for their lack of effort and no sense of urgency in a 37-point Jan. 15 loss to the Denver Nuggets. What Magic might not get is that the Lakers are an old team. So it may not be a lack of urgency or effort. It could be that LAL is tired. Heat should win and cover.

Utah Jazz vs. Golden State Warriors
