2023 Davis Cup Quarterfinals Matchups

Canada vs. Finland

Finland shows 3 wins and a loss during Group D play. The Finnish beat Argentina, Croatia, and the United States. The victory over Team USA was 3-0.

Finland’s only loss during group play came against the Netherlands. Emil Ruusuvuori leads the current team. Ruusuvuori is the world’s sixty-ninth ranked player. Emil shows 26 wins and 24 losses in singles matches this year.

Canada’s highest ranked player is Felix Auger-Aliassime. The world’s 29-ranked tennis star hopes to lead the Canadians to back-to-back Davis Cup titles. So far, Canada is rocking it with 3 wins in group play. Finland will play okay, but Canada prevails.

2023 Davis Cup Pick: Canada

Czech Republic vs. Australia

Thirty-first ranked Jiri Lehecka is a great player, which is why the Czech Republic has a shot versus Australia. However, the Davis Cup is a team sport.

So the Czechs are going to require more than Lehecka to get it done against Australia. The Aussies were runner ups last year.

The Australians boast 12-ranked in singles Alex de Minaur, 26-ranked in doubles Matthew Ebden, 15-ranked in doubles Thanasi Kokkinakis, and 84-ranked in singles Jordan Thompson. Max Purcell ranks 33 in doubles. The Aussies move to the semifinals.

2023 Davis Cup Pick: Australia

Italy vs. Netherlands

Jannik Sinner is one of the world’s top rated players. Sinner is the ATP’s fourth-ranked player. On November 19, Sinner lost the ATP Finals to Novak Djokovic.

For sure, Sinner can get it going in this. Italy’s top player leads a team that also includes Matteo Arnaldi and Lorenzo Sonego, both of which rank in the Top 50 in the world. Lorenzo Musetti ranks twenty-seventh.

But as good as the Italians are, the Netherlands has played great tennis at this year’s Davis Cup. The Orange doesn’t have a player as famous as Jannik Sinner. Heck, the team doesn’t have a player as well-known as Lorenzo Musetti.

The Netherlands, though, went 3-1 in group play, losing only to the Croatians and beating the Americans, Finland, and Slovakia. The Dutch win.

2023 Davis Cup Pick: Netherlands

Serbia vs. Great Britain

Andy Murray leads Great Britain and Novak Djokovic leads Serbia. The British are a serious contender.

Britain rolled in their group, winning all 4 matches, including beating Australia, which was the runner up at the latest Davis Cup. Murray and Cameron Norrie can hold their own against almost anybody playing the Davis Cup Quarterfinals.

The world’s number one, though, has plenty of help. The Serbian side includes Laslo Djere, Miomir Kecmanovic, and Dusan Lajovic on top of Novak Djokovic. Serbia moves to the semis.

2023 Davis Cup Pick: Serbia
