Alex Albon
- 2023 Dutch Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
The Thai driver already has two points finishes in his last five appearances. Considering the budget restraints Williams has to thread this season, this is a tall order. The FW45’s straight-line speed is not to be overlooked as the season heads into the second chapter. We’ve seen Albon drive the car to its limits and perform stellar overtakes.
Albon featured in 12 races in 2023. So far, the former Red Bull wheelman has recorded three points finishes since the opening race in Bahrain. His best season finish is P7, which he picked at the Canadian Grand Prix. He followed this up with another points finish at Silverstone and crossed the finish line in eighth place. Ultimately, we’ve seen Albon overdeliver with a mediocre car, and this is enough to bring him to the top of our sleeper picks list.
Pierre Gasly
- 2023 Dutch Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
Alpine’s Pierre Gasly ranks P12 in the 2023 Formula 1 Driver Standings. Like Albon, the Frenchman features the best finish of P7 this season, including a steady average finish of 11th. He’s put up solid results despite only getting acquainted with the Alpine A523. Gasly is a tested driver and a Grand Prix winner. He cemented his name onto the winners’ list after the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. With that, we believe the 27-year-old packs the proper skillset to pull off a surprise win at this weekend’s Dutch GP.
Despite a few hiccups in his last few appearances, Gasly has seven finishes wherein he earned points in 12 appearances. We’ve seen him do well in qualifying, with the best grid position of P5. If the Alpine-Renault driver can produce more similar performances ahead of the season’s second half, we might see him move up the Driver Standings from his current position of P12.
Daniel Ricciardo
- >2023 Dutch Grand Prix Odds: +10,000
Returning driver Danny Ric has plenty of work to do. Nonetheless, that doesn’t put him out of contention for this weekend’s race. The Aussie needs to learn the ropes of his AlphaTauri AT04 quickly so he can start earning points for his team. His last full season with McLaren saw him finish P11 in the Driver Standings. In 22 races, the former Red Bull driver recorded the best finish of P5 and the best grid of P4. Ricciardo then logged an average finish of 11.63 and an average grid position of 11.41. While it might take time for him to get reacquainted with a different car, we know what the 34-year-old can produce with lots of experience under his belt.
